Job Description

The Manager, Business will be part of the Product Development Science & Technology Business Operations Team.  The role is primarily responsible for managing the operational and financial aspects of one or more functional areas. The role will be to communicate and present key information to the functional head and management.  The role will assist the department management or function with the strategic design and tactical execution of Operations activities, raise issues and opportunities as appropriate.  The role will identify, plan and implement activities projects to achieve departmental strategies, goals, and objectives.  The candidate will identify, and lead efforts designed to support the development of individuals, organization and culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective project management for initiatives within the department as well as cross-functionally.  Drive teams to execute defined deliverables.
  • Lead teams on special projects related to the team, such as integration, harmonization, systems or culture.
  • When managing or working with a cross-functional team, build relationships with others that might include Finance, Quality Assurance, Purchasing Supplier Management, and all other non-departmental functions to accomplish all objectives and responsibilities.  Global awareness and collaboration skills across multiple teams and time zones.
  • Responsible for assisting with strategic design, tactical execution, and establishing strategic planning for global operations activities and projects to achieve departmental strategies, goals, and objectives.
  • Participates in process improvement initiatives.
  • Operate as a conduit between Finance and functional areas to ensure departments operate within the established budget.  Track actuals against plan and assist with Plan and Update Process.
  • Facilitates resource planning and modeling for the department or function.
  • Works with departments to ensure time tracking data is timely and accurate to support resourcing.
  • Manage functional headcount tracking and LBE.

Qualifications

•Bachelor/Master of Science (BSc/MSc), or PhD in Science of Business-related Field, BSc with 12+ yrs MSc with 10+ yrs Ph.D. with 4+ yrs
•Team, drug development, or project management related experience.
•Basic knowledge of project management practices, portfolio review, finance, and budgeting.
•General experience working on, or leading projects.
•Experience supporting clinical research/drug development and/or regulatory/pharmacovigilance/compliance department operations.
•May only have uni-faceted, narrowly-focused experience in one function.
