Job Description

Purpose:

  • Coordinate and direct maintenance activities of the site to ensure uninterrupted availability of the plant and critical systems to support operations
  • Analyze maintenance trends, evolve new strategies, assess resource needs and deploy them
  • Direct reliability and predictive maintenance activities, function as the owner of the CMMS and drive efforts to achieve excellence in maintenance

Major Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Maintenance team of engineers and technicians to perform preventive and break­down maintenance of API and Biotech manufacturing equipment.
  • Direct, organize and control external specialist contractors engaged for maintenance works.
  • Develop maintenance and monitoring regimes and play a key role in improving manufacturing success rates, maintaining CGMP compliance, providing for a safe work environment and controlling costs of the manufacturing operations.
  • Plan, organize and manage spare parts to ensure no stock-outs and optimize inventory costs.
  • Act as the system owner for generation and maintenance of SOPs and training for maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
  • Supervise engineers and maintenance technicians and provide day to day operational support and maintenance services for the biologics and chemical plants in a cGMP environment including modifications and changes to processes and equipment, troubleshooting, deviation investigation, identification and completion of corrective and preventative actions.
  • Conduct technical analysis on manufacturing equipment. This includes gathering information from users, monitoring key system parameters, organizing and evaluating data, identifying problems and improvement opportunities, recommend solutions and preparing relevant reports to ensure long term reliability & efficiency of equipment.
  • Responsible for the content of the CMMS including Asset listings, descriptions, BOM, Job plans including periodic updates to the content in consultation with SMEs, OEMs and Abbvie network sites.
  • Participate and lead, when required, in all investigations (contaminations, deviations, and discrepancies) relating to the manufacturing process.
  • Ensure timely response to issues such as breakdowns, changeovers and provide necessary support beyond normal working hours.
  • Train and ensure competency of technical personnel to perform maintenance activities In a cGMP environment.
  • To actively assist in recruitment, nurturing and retention of employees to support ongoing and future business needs of Abbvie Singapore
  • To mentor and coach reports

Qualifications

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline (mechanical / electrical / chemical)
  • Strong knowledge of CMMS, Reliability and proficiency in MS Office products (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Project)
  • At least 15 years of relevant work experience in chemical / pharmaceutical / biotech facilities with a sound knowledge of cGMP
  • Sound technical knowledge coupled with hands-on experience in maintenance of biotech / pharmaceutical / chemical processing equipment
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement activities and projects
  • Ability to lead teams including external contractors
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Hands-on experience in start-ups, commissioning & qualification of utility systems is a plus
  • Excellent team player willing to work for the common goal
  • Strong mentoring and coaching skills
