Overview:
The HR Specialist plays a key role within the Canada Human Resources team, supporting the delivery of HR programs, employee services, and people initiatives. Working closely with HR Business Partners and cross-functional stakeholders, the successful candidate will contribute to employee lifecycle activities, Total Rewards and disability management, workforce reporting, and HR operations that support AbbVie's business objectives and culture.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support the new hire onboarding process.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding policies and procedures, benefits and other HR-related matters.
- Short Term Disability and Long-Term Disability case management with the external benefit provider.
- Partner with the HRConnect team to discuss open cases, issues and respond to employee inquiries.
- Support HR Business Partners with the execution of employee lifecycle activities, including organizational changes, transfers, promotions, reporting line changes and leaves of absence.
- Maintain organizational charts, workforce trackers, and HR documentation to support effective workforce management.
- Support with updating content on the HRConnect portal and contribute to the development, implementation, communication, and continuous improvement of HR policies, procedures, and employee resources.
- Management of the HR email box, coordination of employee inquiries, and support with employee communications, HR campaigns, and local people initiatives.
- Generate and maintain workforce reports and HR metrics including headcount, vacancies, leave tracking, turnover, and organizational data.
- Support HR vendor management, invoicing and payments, and coordinate administrative activities related to employee benefits, disability management, and wellness programs.
- Assist with HR projects and initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an HR support or administration role.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate cross-functional activities.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and HR systems.
- Strong communication both written and verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Knowledge of Canadian labor laws and employment standards is an asset.

Where We Work
Role is primarily site- or office-based but can occasionally be performed remotely. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
