AbbVie is seeking a Government Affairs Manager to help shape a favourable policy environment for the introduction of new medicines for Swedish patients. In this newly created position, you will be responsible for leading external engagement and communication with government policymakers and other key stakeholders, supporting advocacy, corporate communication, and defined brands across Sweden.
As a key member of AbbVie’s Scandinavian Government Affairs function, you will develop and drive the local governmental affairs strategy, build trusted relationships across the healthcare and policy landscape, and collaborate closely with Market Access, HEOR, External affairs, and Commercial teams. You will also play an active role in the Region Europe GA network, contributing to local, regional, and global strategy while representing AbbVie in trade associations.
Key responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government stakeholders and policymakers
- Map and monitor the healthcare and political landscape, identifying key challenges and opportunities
- Review and write input to hearing consultations, summarize and simplify this information for internal AbbVie stakeholders
- Prepare advocacy briefs for senior leadership at AbbVie
- Strengthen AbbVie’s network and reputation through trusted stakeholder engagement
- Proactively identify opportunities to support business objectives and address policy risks
- Contribute to regional and global governmental affairs strategy and share best practices
- Collaborate cross-functionally across the Scandinavian affiliate
- Represent AbbVie in trade associations and relevant external forums
We are seeking a degree qualified professional with relevant experience in healthcare or political environments. We are looking for a person with political acumen and experience working with or toward policymakers. In addition you have:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work strategically across multiple functions
- A positive, collaborative team player
- Fluency in Swedish and English, written and spoken
- Bachelor or higher degree in a relevant field
- Relevant experience with organizational work, healthcare or political environments
This position is located at our office in Stockholm in the wonderful Forskaren building.

Where We Work
Role is primarily site- or office-based but can occasionally be performed remotely. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
