Job Description

The International Data and Analytics (DnA) Operations team is part of AbbVie’s BTS Commercial Organization. It executes, monitors, and supports recurring processes, including real-time operations, to deliver data products and in-portfolio business applications. The team resolves incidents, addresses service requests, and handles user queries, all while focusing on optimizing processes to improve data quality, cost-effectiveness, and user satisfaction.

The DnA Operations Group comprises:

  • Fusion Data Management Operations (relevant to this role)
  • Analytics Operations
  • Data Integration Operations

AbbVie’s Fusion platform supports the International Commercial Business by processing data into actionable insights. Fusion sources data from internal and external channels and delivers it downstream via its Core Ontology. The Fusion Data Operations team manages these processes end-to-end, ensuring smooth data ingestion, processing, and delivery, while also providing support to users and stakeholders.

Role Overview:

The BTS Fusion Operations Lead is a leadership position within AbbVie’s International Commercial BTS (Business Technology Solutions) organization. This role focuses on leveraging the Fusion platform’s technical ecosystem to ensure seamless data operations that support critical business decision-making.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical expertise, strong leadership, and a commitment to data-driven innovation. The role demands effective communication skills, flexibility in managing shifting priorities, and a focus on optimizing standard processes.

1. Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead and manage the Fusion Data Operations team (Data Ops Team), ensuring high-quality support for all data-related activities.
  • Assign tasks and projects based on individual team members’ skills and project requirements.
  • Ensure the team has the necessary tools and resources to perform effectively.
  • Facilitate collaboration between the Data Ops Team and other internal departments to drive operational efficiency.

2. Operations Oversight & Support:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Fusion platform, ensuring optimal performance and system availability.
  • Develop and implement new processes to streamline operational workflows.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for cross-functional or platform-wide issues, ensuring that root causes are identified, and measures are taken to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure compliance with AbbVie’s support processes, including documentation, release management, and governance frameworks.

3. Service Delivery & Client Engagement:

  • Ensure that the Data Ops Team meets the needs and expectations of internal clients, delivering exceptional service and support.
  • Works with the Data & Analytics operation Lead to establish Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Monitor performance and adjust as needed.
  • Define and communicate the Fusion Operating Model to stakeholders across the organization, ensuring alignment and understanding.

4. Collaboration & Cross-functional Coordination:

  • Act as a liaison between the Platform Support organization and the Data Engineering community, coordinating efforts to resolve critical tickets and improve communication.
  • Partner with adjacent technical teams to define processes for handovers, release management, and knowledge transfer.
  • Foster a collaborative approach to problem-solving, ensuring that common practices and solutions are shared across teams.

5. Communication & Reporting:

  • Develop a comprehensive communication strategy, ensuring timely reporting to stakeholders at all levels (weekly, monthly, escalations).
  • Provide consistent updates on platform status, including planned/unplanned outages, maintenance, and technical updates.
  • Communicate platform evolution and its potential impacts to relevant stakeholders.

6. Strategic Planning & Continuous Improvement:

  • Monitor the operational workload and team capacity, proposing adjustments as needed to meet future requirements.
  • Lead initiatives to explore and implement innovative solutions using the Fusion platform to enhance operations.

Continuously evaluate operational performance and drive improvements in processes, focusing on optimization and adherence to standard practices


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’ degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field with over 7 years of related work experience in data management or similar fields.
  • Proven experience in managing data operations within a complex technical ecosystem.
  • Strong technical expertise, team management, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to work flexibly in dynamic and challenging environments, managing priorities effectively.
  • Commitment to continuous process improvement and operational excellence.
  • Fluent in English, with strong communication skills. 
    • At least 5 years of experience in data management processes, including data integration, data cleansing, modeling and Operations activities.
    • Good understanding of the healthcare industry with preference in the commercial environment and its associated data (e.g., ERP, In Market Data, CRM, multichannel data).
    • Strong technical skills, including experience with databases, SQL, and programming languages PySpark, SAS Analytics, Python, R, and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
    • Experience managing virtual teams, providing necessary supervision, guidance, and support.
    • Experience with cloud services and infrastructure management
