The Cost Accounting Analyst is responsible for reliable setup and maintenance of a dataset over 9,500 active materials across two legal entities. You’ll play a key role in improving costing models, supporting product launches, and shaping financial performance through data-driven analysis and continuous optimization. You will make a valuable contribution to the Supply Chain “Control Tower” function VLOG has within AbbVie.
You will be part of a collaborative team of 3 analysts working with the Finance Lead Direct Cost. You will support the Finance Lead and/or the Controller directly and indirectly by making a substantial contribution to the VLOG Finance business plan and strategic initiatives. You are aware of and work within the legal and company regulations and actively contribute to the governance processes and culture.
Responsibilities
- Working with a dataset of over 9,500 active materials across two legal entities.
- Primary contact for master data set-up and costing both ad-hoc and in annual cycles.
- Partner with global teams to support product launches, ensuring end-to-end financial readiness.
- Support monthly forecasts and long-term planning through data analysis and scenario modeling.
- Own and analyze large-scale material costing datasets, ensuring high-quality, reliable financial master data.
- Optimize and/or improve financial systems/models and costing, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities including Internal Control Framework.
- Act as a key finance partner to Supply Chain, providing insights on cost drivers, shipments, and spend.
- Drive process improvements and automation, leveraging tools like Power BI, Excel, and SAP.
- Contribute to global projects and system implementations, helping shape the future of data-driven finance.
- Support analysis of purchasing activities across Third Party and Internal Manufacturing or Supply Chain.
Job Qualifications regarding education and work experience
- Master or Bachelor in business economics, accountancy (CPA/CIMA) or Supply Chain.
- 2–3 years of experience in data analytics, financial analysis, or costing.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into insights.
- Experience with Excel and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).
- Familiarity with ERP systems like SAP is a plus.
- Understanding of financial concepts (costing, reporting) is beneficial.
- Ability to work with large datasets and complex data structures.
- Strong communication skills to explain insights to non-technical stakeholders.
- Understanding of US and local GAAPs, internal controls and financial reporting is beneficial.
- Preferably experience with logistical processes and/or international matrix organization.

Where We Work
Role is primarily site- or office-based but can occasionally be performed remotely. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
