Purpose
The Business Development & Acquisitions – Finance Team is responsible for developing deal models, valuation analyses, and providing financial support to assess strategic investment opportunities for potential mergers & acquisitions (M&A), licensing and collaboration transactions, divestitures, partnership negotiations, and venture investments.
The Finance Manager, Business Development & Acquisitions collaborates with key leaders across AbbVie’s Corporate Business & Strategy Office and senior Finance stakeholders to generate financial models and external investment analyses throughout the deal lifecycle, including business case development, due diligence, and contracting/ negotiations.
The incumbent will have the opportunity to work across all Therapeutic Areas, multiple transaction types/ deal structures, and partner with cross-functional team members/ leaders in Business Development, Global Alliances, AbbVie Ventures, Finance, R&D, Operations, Commercial, and Corporate Functions to deliver robust financial analyses that inform key decisions tied to potential strategic investments and deal opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Develop deal models and valuation/ financial analyses to assess strategic investment opportunities for potential mergers & acquisitions, licensing and collaboration transactions, divestitures, partnership renegotiations, and venture investments
- Coordinate across key cross-functional partners to drive aligned deal model assumptions – including Business Development, R&D, Operations, Commercial, Finance, Accounting, Tax, and Treasury
- Generate financial summary presentations for key senior leaders across the enterprise, including c-suite level executives
- Manage an active portfolio of multiple simultaneous and ongoing confidential projects
- Partner with Business Development, Finance, and Legal team members in support of target company due diligence activities
- Review and provide input in support of counterparty agreements and contract negotiations
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Preferred: MBA in Accounting or Finance and/or CPA/CMA
- Minimum 7 years of work experience in finance, accounting, banking, consulting, or similar business environment
- Superior financial acumen and financial modeling capabilities with experience assessing investment opportunities
- Advanced analytical skills and attention to detail – expert in Microsoft Excel and/ or other financial modeling tools
- Strong project management capabilities – able to manage multiple simultaneous projects with many moving pieces and fluid timelines
- Executive ready communication skills with ability to communicate complex concepts in simple language – written and verbal
- Demonstrated cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to work with multiple stakeholders often senior to self
- Enterprise mindset with proactive and positive attitude
- Extremely self motivated and driven – aptitude and capability to move into more senior roles over time
- Deals well with uncertainty and is able to work in a fast paced, fluid, and often time sensitive environment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
