Overview:
The primary objective of this position is to provide financial leadership and business support for the Psychiatry franchise. This position leads and manages the volume forecasts and the financial planning and analysis, owns the brand P&L, supports the decision-making process and provides recommendations to Senior / Executive Management. It involves developing forecasts and financials for Vraylar as well as Psychiatry late-stage assets (Emra SCZ at the start). This position supports senior management on all aspects of Finance; this includes developing forecasts, managing P&L, coordinating pricing forecasting and modelling for the brands, supporting decision making and strategic projects, taking into consideration market dynamics and resourcing. In addition, this position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the financial statements and staff development as required. This position directly supports the VP Commercial Vraylar and the Head of Commercial for Emra.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic finance business partner for target functions - provide clear and concise narrative, robust financials and deliverables that can be reviewed with Executive management. Coordinates, pressure tests and summarizes all aspects of financial planning and reporting (expenses, P&L management, volume forecast, pricing assumptions, patient support program assumptions) into concise and comprehensive narratives. Owns the full P&L in front of management (VPs and Neuroscience President), provides big picture view while understanding and challenging the financial components.
- Develop models that accurately incorporate market dynamics including market share and market access. Direct responsibility over volume forecasting – support forecasting team to set sound assumptions and develop scenarios, for both on market (Vraylar) and late-stage pipeline assets (Emra).
- Drive monthly, quarterly, and annual Plan, LRP and LBEs as required, ensuring accurate and timely integration of sales forecast, pricing and investment resourcing, ensuring senior management input to meet overall division/corporate calendar deadlines.
- Assist in asset launch preparation; ensure adequate and appropriate resourcing levels to successfully launch new assets. Develop forecasting model that aligns to the CoE guiding principles and appropriately represents the market dynamics for the new asset.
- Serves as interface with other finance functions (internal controls, NEC consolidation, other) for the brand.
- Reviews ADS and LBEs, coordinates supply chain related topics, runs support ad hoc analysis as required such Min/Max volume for S&OP.
- Decision Support/Special Projects - provide analyses for ad hoc or other business presentations that lend insight into key business drivers enabling operating management to adapt more appropriate tactics/strategy to meet the LRP objectives, support quarterly earning preparation, and companywide initiatives.
- Identify process and tool optimization opportunities within Vraylar and NEC teams and drive projects
- Responsible for delegating to and coaching a staff of employees representing diverse finance capabilities (SG&A, forecasting) to ensure an optimal level of support to the business. Provides coaching and career development opportunities to sustain a high performing staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA and/or MBA preferred.
- 12 years of progressive and related work experience.
- Possess a working knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting (GAAP), AbbVie accounting policies, and AbbVie’s internal financial control framework (including SOX).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to relay complex financial data in clear and simple terms.
- Strong leader with a keen sense of ownership and strong team building skills; ability to set and align goals/priorities, ability to motivate and empower other, and ability to hold individuals accountable for delivering exceptional results.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced and matrixed environment.
- Self-starter with a strong sense of initiative and an inquisitive mind-set.
- Ability to generate ideas, challenge the status quo, solve problems, and to manage innovation to reality.
- High level proficiency with Excel & PowerPoint. Knowledge of SAP, BPC and PowerBi preferred.
