The Finance Analyst position assists with financial planning and analysis, actuals processes, and systems/tools for the R&D HQ team. The responsibility encompasses portions of the HQ annual expense budgets and supports the Assistant Controller, R&D, and the Director, R&D FP&A. This position also works closely with R&D functional Finance Directors and the R&D Actuals team. The Finance Analyst will also lead the monthly LBE, Plan, and LRP Internals Demand and Capacity processes and will be the primary point person for the R&D Strategic Resourcing (RDSR) team. The position will have exposure across all R&D functions and R&Ds ability to support one AbbVie. Overall, the position develops financial planning and analytical skills, and the individual will engage regularly with leadership team members.
Responsibilities
- Develops the annual Plan, LRP and LBEs, including P&L and headcount for R&D HQ for senior management review for certain areas of the HQ Budget
- Operates independently to prepare schedules and relevant analysis for each planning cycle and develops clear support for management review
- Completes the monthly close process and financial reporting to ensure complete, accurate and timely monthly actual results, including variance commentary for P&L, headcount for the R&D HQ budget. Understands monthly results and communicates issues vs. benchmark to businesses to agree on resolution or action plan
- Provides management with clear insights into drivers of business and financial performance and risk
- Responsible for leading the Internals Demand and Capacity processes
- Work with Assistant Controller, Director R&D FP&A, the R&D Finance Directors and RDSR to ensure alignment on the capacity process and implement process improvements for efficiency; send capacity files each month and for Plan and LRP
- Work with RDSR and HQs on the monthly internal demand load into Power BI; ensure data is accurate, perform analysis over the data submitted by RDSR, work with BPC team on data requests for the upload, perform the upload into Power BI and check for accuracy
- Set up and lead monthly meetings with RDSR to ensure alignment on process and timing
- Assists on an ad-hoc basis with requests or slides related to the overall R&D LBE, Plan and LRP
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting required. CPA preferred.
- 2+ years progressive experience in Finance and/or Accounting.
- Strong analytical skills. Capable of handling multiple priorities. Strong organizational skills with ability to handle various tasks; attention to detail.
- Proficient PC software (Microsoft) and various database applications. Intermediate to advanced knowledge in Excel. SAP and BPC knowledge. Power BI a plus.
- Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. Pay Range: $
65500 - 125500 USD
Where We Work
Role is primarily site- or office-based but can occasionally be performed remotely. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
