AbbVie is seeking an EHS Officer to strengthen the Environmental, Health & Safety culture at our Grâce‑Hollogne production site. In this role, you will promote safe work practices, support continuous improvement initiatives, and help enhance employee well‑being and environmental performance. Acting as a key point of contact in the field, you will ensure that regulatory requirements and AbbVie standards are understood, applied, and continuously improved across all departments.
EHS Culture, Training & Awareness
Lead EHS prevention campaigns and contribute to Tier and departmental meetings.
Deliver EHS training and awareness sessions, including onboarding for new employees.
Update and develop EHS training materials and support communication initiatives across the site.
Field Presence, Inspections & Observations
Conduct regular workplace visits, safety observations, and gemba walks.
Perform inspections of construction and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with AbbVie standards and legal requirements.
Follow up on positive safety observations and support departments in implementing improvements.
Risk Assessment, Incident Investigation & Corrective Actions
Participate in job risk assessments and identify improvement opportunities in safety, ergonomics, and industrial hygiene.
Contribute to incident investigations and support the definition, implementation, and follow‑up of corrective and preventive actions.
Provide expertise to help design sustainable EHS improvements aligned with regulatory and internal standards.
Audits, Compliance & Regulatory Reporting
Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits and inspections.
Support the implementation of audit‑related corrective actions.
Ensure EHS regulatory monitoring and prepare required legal reports.
Environmental Performance Monitoring
Track and report environmental indicators (waste, energy, water) and communicate results to the site and Corporate teams.
Additional EHS Support Activities
Support administrative and operational EHS tasks such as PPE management, medical visit coordination, emergency drill organization, equipment ordering, and industrial hygiene monitoring.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or technical field.
Safety certification (Level 3) and strong knowledge of EHS principles in a pharmaceutical or regulated environment.
Minimum 3 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
Experience in safety‑related improvement projects or change‑management initiatives.
Solid understanding of EHS regulations and ability to translate them into practical actions.
Fluency in French and English (written and spoken).
Skills & Competencies
Strong safety mindset and exemplary behavior.
Ability to quickly propose effective preventive or corrective solutions.
Clear communication and training skills to engage and influence teams.
Comfortable working on the shop floor and interacting with multiple departments.
Continuous improvement mindset, particularly in safety, ergonomics, hygiene, and well‑being at work.

Where We Work
Role is primarily site- or office-based but can occasionally be performed remotely. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
