We are recruiting an experienced EHS Engineer with a safety focus to join our growing team in AbbVie, Westport. Reporting to the Assoc. Director, Environmental Health and Safety, you will manage the day to day safety programs onsite and ensure that specific Site and EHS&E Projects are delivered in accordance with Site EHS Systems, Standards and all of the relevant Legislative and Corporate requirements.
In this role you will:
- Create a strong “Zero Believe It, Achieve It. I Will” incident and injury-free safety culture
- Engage and empower managers and employees to highlight and implement continuous safety improvements
- Ensure effective risk identification and mitigation, compliance with EHS requirements, and achievement of EHS KPIs.
- Work as part of a cross-functional team, provide support to the management team and employees to achieve safety and environmental goals & objectives in line with the overall goals and objectives.
- Implement a range of EHS programs in conjunction with the EHS Team – e.g. EHS Auditing; Risk Assessment; Permit to Work; EHS Promotional Activities; Accident/Incident Investigation; EHS Training.
- Lead a number of EHS programs campus-wide – e.g. Ergonomics, Behavioural Safety, Chemical Safety.
- This role offers autonomy and ownership for assigned projects/areas/programs, whilst having the support of an experienced EHS Team.
- Degree in Engineering, Science, Health & Safety, Environmental Science or similar (if primary degree is in Engineering/Science, then additional EHS focused qualification is preferred)
- 5 years EHS experience in pharmaceutical / medical device or similar industry
- Proven track record of leading projects and/or people
- Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal, communication, organisation and decision-making skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously whilst maintaining close attention to detail
