Job Description

Oversee distribution activities to all countries served by the Central Distribution Center (CDC) to ensure that customer requirements are consistently satisfied while complying with AbbVie policies and achieving performance targets related to inventory efficiency, on-time delivery and quality compliance.

It is crucial to drive initiatives to improve AbbVie Supply Chain processes with projects to further integrate functions within the Integrated Planning and Logistics organization, and to control our logistic costs.

The Distribution Manager is responsible for leading/supporting larger and smaller SC improvement projects involving AbbVie’s Central Distribution Center (CDC) and transportation (TSP) within EMEA and from EMEA to other regions. 

  • Leading/supporting larger and smaller SC improvement projects that involve CDC and EMEA TSP (annual budget for CDC and TSP is approximately >$50 Million).
  • Various operational tasks around CDC and EMEA TSP to gain understanding of the processes and drive improvements.
  • Directly manage the distribution and warehousing operated in tbc countries. Responsibilities include service performance, compliance with AbbVie Quality standards, annual budget and affiliate relationship.
  • Initiate and implement continuous improvement suggestions in coordination with internal or external parties as part of the ongoing SMI (sustainable margin) program across the CDC and country responsibilities as well as the overall EMEA region.
  • Assure the supply of AbbVie products by coordinating logistics programs between Affiliate Commercial Operations, Finance, Integrated Planning, Quality Assurance, Business Strategy and Analytics, Global Security and external service providers
  • Support collection of local data to be used for monitoring and analysis of distribution operations

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of progressive Supply Chain Management operations or warehouse management experience and/or experience managing 3PL warehouse providers
  • Experience in managing various TSP modes with emphasis on requirements of the pharmaceutical industry, such as GDP Compliance for Cold Chain and Controlled Room Temperature environments. Experience in the food industry is also considered.
  • Experience working in a multinational manufacturing firm and negotiating and managing global distribution agreements
  • Knowledge of distribution channels and requirements within the EMEA pharmaceutical/healthcare market
  • Strong knowledge of global warehouse, TSP, inventory management, customer service and order fulfillment processes and standards
  • Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Strong knowledge of IT system integration practices and issues with preference for experience with SAP IM, SAP WM
  • Knowledge of importing, exporting and customs regulations
  • Organized and skilled in personal productivity tools, executive presentations
  • Proficient in English
  • University degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain or related field

Ability to be in Venlo at the CDC location on a regular basis ( one to two days a week , rest in Zwolle office)
