The Distribution Manager manages all activities related to warehousing and logistics. The Distribution Manager oversees logistics in Canada ensuring that customer requirements supporting all Canadian sales are consistently satisfied while complying with Health Canada and AbbVie requirements. This role is responsible to monitor daily activities, tracking of KPIs and payment for services for 3PLs providing services for Canadian affiliate. The Distribution Manager will ensure all distribution and logistics practices and procedures are in line with AbbVie Distribution and Logistics Center of Excellence guidelines as well as affiliate commercial requirements.
Responsibilities:
Oversee AbbVie activities related to 3PL distribution centers, transportation carriers as well as AbbVie Center of Excellence ensuring priorities and strategies are aligned with AbbVie Canada business strategies while maintaining solid business relationships.
- Facilitate communication between AbbVie and 3PL(s). Monitor for compliance and communicate KPIs for Customer Service, Inventory Accuracy, Carrier Performance, and major customer relationships.
- Provide monthly KPI reports to management including causal analysis of unfavorable variances and corrective actions plans agreed with the 3PL.
- Escalation point-of-contact for AbbVie stakeholders for all country specific logistics, and shipping queries.
- In collaboration with QA, ensure that the 3PL (s) maintain high levels of operational control and GMP/GDP compliance while adhering to corporate and government guidelines. Perform functional analysis of operating procedures to assure compliance with AbbVie requirements. Coordinate MBR/QBR agenda and meeting activities.
- Participate in monthly/quarterly QA,S&OP, S&OE and management review meetings to share updates on D&L activities and projects, as needed.
- Review and provide monthly financial spend and accruals.
- Coordinate and manage 3PL service agreements and addendums. Lead logistics bids and contract renewal projects when required. Develop and implement Gross Margin Improvement projects with 3PL and service providers. Monitor and track project status and then validate and report savings projections.
- Manage technical evaluations related to 3PL or 3PP to improve overall chain effectiveness and to meet new product requirements (i.e. importing frozen product, distribution, transportation, over-labelling, reworks, etc.)
- Manage staff of Distribution and Logistics Associates/Analysts/Specialists/Contractors. Perform goal setting and talent evaluations. Provide leadership and training to overcome obstacles and ensure projects are successfully planned, executed, and closed. Ensure continuous progression in team performance while advancing operational technology and customer service performance.
- Prepare LRP, annual budgets, capital plans and financial LBE activities for operating costs and meet budget expectations. Estimated annual budgetary responsibility is approximately $20 million.
- Support Customer Service and GTC activities as required to meet the cost and services expectations of internal and external AbbVie partners, patients, customers, and other stakeholders.
- Review processes and network to seek continuous improvement opportunities.
- Recommend, lead, and integrate continuous improvement initiatives within the Canadian Distribution and Logistics network and support Global initiatives, as needed.
- Write, review and approve all AbbVie specific 3PL SOP’s and ensure alignment with GDP and AbbVie requirements.
Education/Experience Required:
- Education in field of expertise like operations, supply chain management, engineering or business (B.Sc.).
- 5-7 years of logistics related experience to show excellent analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities as
- Manager will be responsible for operational decisions, problem solving and savings.
Essential Skills & Abilities:
- Manager must have excellent communication skills in French and English language to influence and negotiate with internal and external customers or direct reports.
- Manager should have working knowledge of Good Distribution Practices (GDP) as well as Canadian distribution and transportation channels.
- Manager must have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills to coordinate across all cross functional stakeholders as well as third party resources to implement initiatives and resolve issues.
- Manager must have strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Manager must be able to use SAP ECC/S4HANA tools.
- Manager must be available for business travel on short notice. Travel required is 10-20%
