The Director, Toxin Strategy will accelerate toxin strategy and innovation by 1) driving BOTOX® Therapeutic data generation and support in current therapeutic areas 2) expanding BOTOX® into new therapeutic indications and 3) working with key stakeholders to develop novel toxins to address patient unmet needs and sustain AbbVie toxin leadership. This person will work with cross-functional stakeholders (pre-clinical, clinical, legal, global commercial development, aesthetics commercial team and medical affairs) to protect the BOTOX® brand through data generation, IP and labeling.
A key imperative is to maximize the value of the brand to optimize the portfolio’s value and create an aggressive toxin life cycle plan to best meet the needs of patients and HCPs across all specialties in changing market landscape.
This position serves as commercial liaison to medical affairs toxin differentiation team and works in close collaboration with TASC advisors across Toxins, Neurosciences and Gen Med teams to ensure U.S. commercial POV is captured and represented for portfolio prioritization. This person closely monitors the toxin competitive landscape (including potential biosimilars) and ensure proactive strategy in place to differentiate AbbVie toxins. In addition, to be successful, the incumbent must partner effectively with the HCP franchise leaders to understand data required to drive more uptake in current therapeutic areas as well as plan for competitive entrants. This individual will help drive all post approval, Ph 4 studies and label expansion activities from a commercial standpoint. This position will also serve as the lead liaison for the development of the Strategic Long Range Plan.
This position reports to the VP BOTOX® Therapeutic, Neuro/Uro Marketing and actively participates in the business’s unit strategy and planning team. May interface with other U.S. brand teams to identify opportunities for increased productivity and synergy in the short-term and plan for development and management of opportunities in the long-term for commercialization.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directs Toxin strategy with internal and external key strategic partners, ensuring full awareness of the necessary competitive, reimbursement and legal environment
- Maintain focus on and consistently triangulate market dynamics, constituents’ needs, and business priorities to determine best, market-advantaged course of action
- Competitive toxin tracking and proactive lifecycle planning with Toxin differentiation Director
- Critical coordination across the organization to align leadership of strategic options and recommendations for strategic LRP development
- Formulate and adjust business plans and actions to achieve business objectives and goals, including financial, constituents and market results. Grow and gain share and penetration. Take and recommend appropriate strategic decisions and actions for the best interest of AbbVie, franchise and brand at the varying life cycle stages.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor degree in a technical/ science heavy discipline required; MBA or other advance degree in social science, life sciences, or quantitative analysis or related area is desired
- Minimum 10+ years of professional industry experience, including at least 3+ years in managerial positions at a medium-to-large health care company, preferably in global marketing functions within the pharmaceutical industry
- In-depth knowledge of pharma industry marketing, sales and business development with established track record in managing industry-based marketing functions
- Experience working in or with other regions/countries highly desirable
- Ability to analyze difficult, complex situations, understand the details, and not get lost in them
- Ability to make difficult decisions, deal quickly and effectively with changes, and confront conflict constructively (strong resolution skills) as well as having a high standards for professional conduct
- Demonstrated ability to lead people, without direct line reporting and manage budgets
- Ability to travel 10%

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
