The Director of Strategic Planning and Scientific Operations, Biological Research, plays a pivotal role within the Biological Research Senior Leadership team, reporting directly to the VP of Allergan Aesthetics Biological Research (AABR) and supporting the vision for Aesthetic Pharma and Neurotoxin Discovery. This role drives communication and collaboration across the department, oversees scientific operations, provides strategic management of the neurotoxin and hair pipeline, and partners with functional and project leads to establish and track milestones and resource prioritization. The incumbent also plays a central role in planning and executing initiatives that foster partnership, strengthen culture, facilitate transparent communications, and contribute to the delivery of strategic goals.
Responsibilities:
- Execute on AABR vision and strategy, partnering with AABR leadership team as well as cross-functional leaders across Allergan Aesthetics and AbbVie.
- Drive effective communication and collaboration within AABR, fostering a cohesive and high-performing team environment as well as operational excellence.
- Act as a strategic partner for managing the scientific execution of the toxin and hair pipeline within AABR, aligning priorities, project hand-offs, and resource allocation within overall research goals.
- Collaborate with functional and project leads to set, manage, and track milestones; working with Global Portfolio Strategy R&D Aesthetics (GPSO) to drive portfolio prioritization.
- Initiate, coordinate, and execute AABR program reviews, workshops, and summits in collaboration with the GPSO and Business Excellence teams.
- Organize, facilitate, and take responsibility for AABR departmental offsites, as well as department-wide training sessions.
- Set agendas and run AABR leadership meetings, ensuring alignment with departmental objectives and effective decision-making.
- Manage and provide oversight for AABR functional improvement workstreams (e.g., work efficiency and culture workstreams), tracking progress and driving improvements.
- Represent AABR within the broader RDAA Chief of Staff community to support cross-functional initiatives and organizational alignment.
- Serve as key point of contact and delegate for interface with AbbVie Discovery and Development Sciences, ensuring that lessons learned and scientific platforms/approaches are effectively connected
- Lead the laboratory operations team to ensure excellence in financial management, documentation, laboratory safety, and resource allocation.
- Advanced degree (science, health care, technology/informatics, business management) and/or greater than or equal to 10 years of pharmaceutical experience, with demonstrated leadership success in a pharmaceutical or biotech company. Demonstrated understanding of the complexities and success of working in the global pharmaceutical and medical device environment.
- Higher degree or certifications (e.g. MS., MBA, LSS, Masters in Project Management, PMP) preferred
- Strong business acumen; ability to leverage business principles to support GAMA and enterprise initiatives
- Proven leadership skills to lead and influence cross-functional matrix teams
- Strong communicator and ability to influence across the enterprise
- Ability to partner and build strong relationships and role model leadership behaviors
- Ability to work with a global mindset to deliver on business priorities and objectives
- Commitment to building and developing team members and deliver effective coaching and feedback

VP Biological Research, members of the AABR Senior Leadership Team, RDALT, GPSO, R&D Operations and Business Excellence, Allergan Aesthetics leadership team.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

Pay Range: $
160500 - 305000 USD
Where We Work
Role is exclusively performed at a site or office and onsite presence is required. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
