Job Description

Purpose

Provides the strategic plan and drives global, complex, cross-functional process and productivity improvement projects for Development that support the organization’s strategic objectives. Also, partners with the Project Lead to drive cross-functional Team effectiveness and drives strategic input on the implementation for process improvement initiatives for Development ensuring aligned execution. Will have both direct and indirect reports

Responsibilities

  • 1. Establishes and implements improvement methodologies and techniques to be used, governance structure, project management structure and progress reporting
  • 2. Develop and assess integrated project plans, resource projections, risk plans, and effectiveness metrics for each initiative.
  • 3. Accountable for helping team navigate the change management process effectively and efficiently
  • 4. Providing program management leadership across a complex program of projects with a large global implementation. This role will be integral in setting and ensuring alignment across a set of integrated initiatives and ensuring alignment with the longer term program strategy.
  • 5. This position is responsible for problem solving, risk mitigation and contingency plans at a global level
  • 6. Actively shares learning and collaborates with other Initiative PMs to apply best practices to supported teams.
  • 7. Supports high performing project teams through monitoring and assessing the team’s performance
  • 8. This is the second level position (of 2 levels) within a job family which responsible for overseeing the management of projects that are cross-functional and cross-divisional, highly complex, have high impact and are top priority for the organization
  • 9. This position will report into a director level and will have direct and indirect reports. Partners with the Director to mentor and guide more junior roles in the team.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree (or ex-US equivalent) is required, typically in nursing or scientific field. An Associate’s degree/R.N. (or ex-US equivalent) with relevant experience is acceptable
  • 10+ years of experience within corporate strategy or consulting, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry in a variety of roles associated with drug development (research and development, commercial, project management, operations) Minimum of 3 years supporting cross-functional teams in a core function (Program Management, Development, Regulatory, Operations)
  • Developing strategic thinking and leadership skills
  • Good communication skills both written and oral
  • Growing knowledge of program management practices, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry
     
  • Preferred: Experience with both global and regional teams in the pharmaceutical industry Demonstration of successful coaching/ mentoring and people management and setting and driving strategy and leading a global team
  • PMP, Change management, Lean Six Sigma or process improvement experience desirable
