Portfolio Insights is responsible for driving analysis of key value metrics and support organization in making informed portfolio choices within TA and drive cross-prioritization above TA in alignment with larger strategic goals. Director II, Portfolio Insights Analytics is responsible for data governance, central data repository and automated visualization/ analytics development. This role is responsible for setting vision and strategy for delivering dynamic visuals and analytics underpinned by a central data repository. This role is expected to develop new process for data governance engaging cross-functional partners, create framework for and build a central data repository and develop insightful and dynamic visualizations to support portfolio prioritization and management. They are expected to partner closely with functional leaders to drive alignment on data governance model and work closely BTS organization to build required data structure, analytic tools and visualization. This role may or may not have people leadership responsibilities depending on business needs

Responsibilities:

• Trusted partner with BTS and other functional stakeholders
• Trusted partner with Finance to deliver key outputs and visualization (e.g., Plan Book, Financial LRP process)
• Fosters strong connections with leaders across TASC, PPM, Commercial Forecasting, Finance and Strategic Resourcing to understand their needs and acts as a strategic partner to develop data governance approaches
• Attracts and hires a strong team to establish this new capability within Abbvie as needed
• Bridges across Technology and Business side of organization to engage and drive appropriate linkages to develop “user friendly” solutions
• Works with cross-functional stakeholders across TA to balance consistency in approaches and principles across TAs while still allowing for TA-specific nuance in creating data repository
• Works with broader Portfolio Insights team in defining visualization outputs to support Sr. Leadership decision making on portfolio investments
• Committed to drive continuous improvement in new model
• Leads ad-hoc short-term analysis or strategic projects at leadership request

• Bachelor’s degree in scientific or business field and MBA. PhD in scientific field preferred
• 10+ years of experience with multi-faceted, broad based understanding of Pharma R&D business processes, investment stage gating and commercial processes; fewer years can be considered if candidate has advanced degrees (MBA, PhD)
• Proven people management experience with building a new team
• Strong coach and developer of people
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated experience in managing multiple priorities in fast paced setting
• Proven track record of leading complex projects at “cross-TA” level and delivering enterprise impact
• Distinctive communication skills and strong presence in meetings with demonstrated ability to shape consensus and push for “enterprise thinking”
• Prior experience in Management Consulting and track record of experience in R&D Strategy, Portfolio prioritization projects a plus
• Strong organizational and project management skills commensurate with leading a team and conducting multiple sophisticated analysis for cross-TA support across several assets
