Job Description

This role is hybrid in Florham Park, NJ or Mettawa, IL Tuesday through Thursday - Local candidates only

The Director, Patient Access & Affordability Solutions, within the Copay Center of Excellence (COE), plays a leadership role in the development and maintenance of our patient access & affordability strategies across the AbbVie Neuroscience business. This person will be responsible for copay program implementation & operations, strategic innovation, analytics & data operations, forecasting and financial program management. They will be responsible for working cross-functionally within the copay COE, and across the AbbVie organization, partnering with Market Access, Finance, BTS, Patient Services, MABI, Hub operations and the brand teams. They will lead a team of individuals to successfully deliver executive level recommendations to the Neuroscience leadership team.

  • Lead the continued evolution of access and affordability strategies for AbbVie’s Neuroscience business, based upon changes within the market landscape that impact the patients’ we support.
  • Drive an exceptional patient experience through the development of innovative and impactful initiatives that align to the Patient Services strategic imperatives.
  • Manage copay program P&L through strong partnership with Finance to lead and execute AbbVie financial planning cycles across the LBE/LRP/Annual Plan.
  • Work cross-functionally to provide leadership and direction for a cohesive Neuroscience Gross-To-Net (GTN) strategy.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate relationships with commercial business partners in market access, sales, managed healthcare, trade, and marketing teams.
  • Collaborate within the patient support organization to successfully pull through access and affordability programs.
  • Partner with MABI on analytics initiatives, to ensure consistent program performance measurement and insights across the enterprise portfolio.
  • Ensure a high level of cross-functional coordination and strategic/tactical planning through ongoing communications as well as contributing to a positive team culture.
  • Partner with legal and compliance teams to ensure programs are compliant and evolve as needed based on new laws / regulations.
  • Manage vendor relationships to successfully execute copay program operations, and auxiliary tactics to ensure program success.
  • Build a high performing team, creating business plans and setting priorities to achieve business objectives and goals. Influence across multiple external and internal stakeholders. Lead and develop direct, indirect and cross-business team. Infuse AbbVie Ways of Working and Talent Philosophy in day-to-day leadership and management of the business.

 


Qualifications

  • Requires minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree a plus.
  • A minimum of 5+ years in the pharmaceutical industry with expertise in patient support programs and  market access in pharmaceutical or healthcare industry required.  Additional knowledge in finance, sales, marketing, or related commercial function in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry is strongly preferred. 
  • Candidates should have working knowledge of the compliance and regulatory environment for manufacturers in the pharmaceutical space.

  • Strong writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to effectively plan, prioritize, execute, follow up and anticipate problems.
  • Ability to lead across multiple functions (sales, managed healthcare, trade, marketing).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in fast-paced, deadline driven, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Ability to influence across functions to gain consensus on solutions.
  • Excellent leadership, management and organizational skills, along with problem solving, conflict resolution and team building.
  • Works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of functional area objectives and their impact on, and interaction with, other functions within the organization.
