Purpose:
The Director, Operations Excellence oversees the building, driving, and execution of program operations and continuous improvement to drive Discovery Research capabilities, tools, quality, automation, and efficiency. This role will own the execution and management of projects with impact across Discovery Research and will be responsible for building the synergies between the different functions within Discovery Research. This role works closely with other cross-functional teams to drive business performance, sits on the leadership team of Integrated Discovery Operations, and is a key contributor to Integrated Discovery Operations and Discovery Research’s performance.
Responsibilities:
•Leads the operational strategy and execution for the different services supported by Integrated Discovery Operations. This segment of the role is focused on transformation, processes, systems to enable greater value delivery and improved executional efficiency at AbbVie.
•Partners with other R&D operational directors and AbbVie stakeholders to develop and deliver operations strategy and drive sustainable value while mitigating risks.
•Leads the development of the strategic roadmap for systems and insights transformation in collaboration with the extended Discovery Research leadership teams, and internal AbbVie stakeholders.
•Acts as process Subject Matter Expert and liaison between business and support functions to execute operational strategies.
• Oversees data analytics with stakeholders
•Looks for opportunities to leverage system and processes among the different business units and is responsible for creating strategy and executing strategy for implementing synergies.
•Champions and sustains a robust continuous improvement infrastructure allowing near real time program improvements with cross functional collaboration so learnings are shared across the portfolio.
•Leads and drives execution of overall operations initiatives, coordinating project prioritization and resource allocation.
•Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, business technology, general business administration. MBA or equivalent experience preferred.
•15+ years in drug discovery or related fields in pharma
•Demonstrated success in influencing large teams and working with various stakeholders to achieve mutual goals.
•Agile and flexible with regards to changing priorities and business needs.
•Experience working in a complex and matrix environment.
•Deep understanding of data governance programs and policies.
•Strong people management skills and communication skills, both oral and written.
•Strategic thinker; able to influence without formal authority.
•Anticipates risks and provides mitigation options.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
