Job Description

Purpose

AbbVie is working to outsmart cancer by collaborating with scientists, physicians, industry partners, patient advocacy groups, and patients to discover, develop, and deliver therapies that can make a meaningful difference for people affected by cancer. Through continued investment in new pathways, technologies, and approaches, AbbVie is advancing potential solutions for some of the most widespread and difficult-to-treat cancers, while also exploring ways to help patients access its oncology medicines.

AbbVie’s oncology portfolio includes marketed medicines and a pipeline of multiple investigational molecules being evaluated worldwide across more than 200 clinical trials and more than 20 cancers and tumor types, supported by acquisitions and collaborations including Pharmacyclics, Stemcentrx, ImmunoGen, and other partners.

AbbVie is seeking a Director of US Market Access Marketing for Oncology Franchise A assets, including two co-marketed brands: IMBRUVICA (ibrutinib) for chronic lymphocytic leukemia and EPKINLY (epcoritamab) for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma and follicular lymphoma. This role is responsible for market access marketing collaboration across these critical Hematology Franchise brands and will also manage two Associate Director’s who support these assets.

The Director will lead market access marketing strategy across payer channels, including Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, VA, and other relevant access segments, as well as key account and community oncology channels where applicable. The role will drive strategic alignment with Market Access field teams and coordinate strategy, communication, and execution across US Market Access channel and policy partners, the Oncology Commercial Organization, US Medical Affairs, and co-promote partner organizations.

As the market access marketing subject matter expert for the IMBRUVICA/EPKINLY Integrated Brand Team, the Director and their direct reports will develop shared strategies and tactics that support brand objectives and reflect each product’s clinical, economic, and competitive profile. The role will shape value stories, tools, and customer engagement approaches for payer, provider, institution, government, and community stakeholders, while leveraging data, analytics, and strategic insight to inform decisions and foster alignment with US Market Access’ Ambitious Cultural Vision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction for the US Market Access Marketing vision, strategies, plans, and resource investments for IMBRUVICA and EPKINLY, grounded in a “One for All AbbVie” mindset.
  • Develop value propositions that clearly articulate business strategy, economic choices, and stakeholder-specific needs.
  • Serve as the Market Access contact for Oncology leadership during Plan, LBE, LRP, and other financial and planning processes.
  • Collaborate with key cross-functional partners, including Brand Marketing, GPO Marketing, Trade Marketing, Payer and GPO account teams, Market Access Insights, Medical Payer Strategy, Legal, and the Office of Ethics and Compliance.
  • Set the tone, priorities, scale, and scope of accountability while influencing internal and external stakeholders and partners.
  • Serve as a US Market Access and reimbursement subject matter expert, providing input to the Pipeline Market Access team and participating in relevant product Value and Access Teams.
  • Embed AbbVie Ways of Working and the Talent Philosophy into daily leadership, team management, and business execution.
  • Coach direct reports effectively to deliver execution commitments and strengthen influence with internal and external cross-functional partners.
  • Determine appropriate actions, execution plans, tracking, and monitoring for projects using scenario planning, segmentation, positioning, innovation, creative development, and investment optimization as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 10+ years of pharmaceutical experience; cross-functional experience in field sales, finance, market analytics, market access, or brand marketing is valued.
  • Experience with pharmaceutical marketing principles and practices, including the ability to develop strategic plans, conduct and interpret market research, and understand the regulatory environment.
  • Strong communication skills, demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally, and ability to build stakeholder relationships across matrixed environments.
  • Optimistic, inquisitive, solution-oriented, and able to drive results independently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree or master’s degree in a related healthcare field strongly preferred.
  • Market access experience in multiple myeloma, hematology, or oncology preferred.
  • Experience commercializing physician-administered and oral oncolytics.
