Job Description

The Director of Operational Excellence (OpEx) role requires a strategic thinker with robust experience in risk & compliance management, security management, process improvement, exceptional leadership capabilities, and the ability to navigate complex, multi-faceted environments. This role will ensure the organization's assets are safeguarded by designing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive risk management processes.

This position is integral to aligning risk management measures with the organization's strategic objectives, ensuring robust protection of assets and fostering an organizational culture of resilience and safety.

Responsibilities

Strategic Direction and Oversight:

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for all risk management initiatives, ensuring they align with the organization’s vision and operational goals.
  • Oversee the risk management framework to support effective decision-making and resource allocation, ensuring alignment across the IT RiSC buckle.

Program Integration and Service Model Development:

  • Ensure risk management measures are fully integrated into Information Research (IR) service delivery model leveraging a risk-based approach.
  • Develop and implement a scalable OpEx model that provides support to the IR community through a service model that scales to meet annual compliance demands and integrates into the RiSC functions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement strategies that proactively mitigate risks and enhance our risk posture.
  • Collaborate and Partner with the IR BISO to communicate and align IR strategies and approaches with the BTS Information Security Risk Management (ISRM) strategic security initiatives.

Tactical Oversight and Execution

  • Ensure all high and critical strategic Risk Management projects and initiatives are staffed appropriately and are completed within the defined project timelines. Coordinate IR risk management functions to align with the approved risk tolerances.

Continuous Improvement and Reporting:

  • Collaborate and Partner with Infrastructure, Architecture and Innovation (IAI) and Information Security Risk Management (ISRM) teams to identify and address process gaps.
  • Enhance risk and compliance reporting framework within IR to ensure that the IR functions are supported with standardized reporting that meets business needs.

Training:

  • Support efforts in building a culture of resilience and safety, promoting awareness, and adherence to risk management protocols organization wide.

 


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s  with 9 years of experience or Master’s Degree with 8 years of experience, or PhD with 4 years of experience in IT, Business Information Systems, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in process management, operational excellence, or risk management. Expertise in continuous process improvements, optimizing processes and enhancing organizational efficiency.
  • Extensive experience with regulatory requirements and industry standards in risk management and quality, with a proven ability to navigate complex environments and uphold high-quality operational standards.
  • A proven track record of implementing successful process improvement initiatives that added value and resulted in measurable improvements within an organization.
  • Experience in leading and driving major change initiatives within an organization, demonstrating a strong leadership presence.
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging with and influencing senior management, including functional heads fostering collaboration and alignment with organizational goals.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Knowledge of Research and Development.
  • Strong project management skills and experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • High emotional Intelligence and strong relationship management skills
  • Experience in strategy, planning and implementation.
  • Ability to lead teams through transformative changes.

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.​
