The Director, US Market Access, Payer Strategy RINVOQ will lead development, evolution, and deployment/enhancement of the pan-therapeutic RINVOQ value proposition and drive life-cycle commercialization decision-making to maximize and protect RINVOQ value across the long-range plan. The Director will integrate insights across gastroenterology, dermatology, and rheumatology into the US Market Access Payer Strategy team, work collaboratively with International Market Access (IMAP) colleagues, HEOR and medical teams, and act as a critical member on the Asset Strategy Team and other deliverable groups. The ideal candidate should have a track record of influencing without authority, experience in US and/or Global payer strategy development, an understanding of the AbbVie Financial Planning processes, and executive presence.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead development of the RINVOQ customer narrative platform leveraging clinical and economic data as well as key stakeholder insights. Work with key members of the Immunology Payer Strategy team and cross-functional partners, including Heads of Brand Marketing, Medical Payer Strategy, HEOR, Trade, and APS, to develop and integrate compelling narratives that align to Immunology Strategy and has high-impact with external customers
- Drive cost containment mitigation initiatives across different payer stakeholders, including state-initiated boards, CMS IRA maximum fair price “negotiations”, and ongoing Payer contracting discussions
- Determine appropriate action, execution, tracking, monitoring, and competitive preparedness for future evolution of RINVOQ value proposition
- Lead and partner on future-focused projects to support business growth trajectory of RINVOQ across the long range plan:
- Provide commercialization support in close partnership with Rheum, Derm, and Gastro TA Marketing Heads, lead Pricing assessments to optimize RINVOQ value across the LRP, work with IMAP to ensure alignment between US and Global strategies where appropriate
- In partnership with Immunology Portfolio Payer Strategy, lead incorporation of RINVOQ-specific pricing decisions into Financial Planning (LRP, Plan, LBE)
- Attend Derm/Rheum and Gastro AST governance in support of market access position to inform milestone development and launch decisions; appropriately influence clinical development programs to ensure endpoints and trial design are incorporated that will optimize price, reimbursement, and ultimately patient access
- Proactively ensure reimbursement perspective is incorporated into early brand plans, disease area strategies, and portfolio strategies throughout key clinical development milestones and strategic commercial decisions
- Lead across one or more Access Brand Teams, as the single point of accountability across a cross-functional team of Payer Strategy, Trade Strategy, Patient Services Strategy, and MABI to support multiple Therapeutic Area VPs
- Effectively collaborate with and drive strategic alignment across multiple stakeholders and leadership teams, such as the Market Access Leadership Team, Brand Teams, Account Management teams, MABI, Finance, Government Affairs/Advocacy teams
- Proven ability to influence without authority and navigate complex, matrixed organizational systems required; demonstrating and aligning to AbbVie’s Ways of Working
- Strong strategic thinking, business acumen and communications skills required with understanding of financial planning process and analyses
- Executive presence required – ability to develop insights and communicate concisely and effectively to influence executive level decisions
- 12+ years of Immunology Marketing and/or Market Access experience
- Understanding of AbbVie financial process preferred
- Cross-functional experiences including field sales, finance, and/or market analytics valued
- Positive, solutions-oriented attitude required
- Bachelor’s Degree required

Where We Work
Role is primarily site- or office-based but can occasionally be performed remotely. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
