The Tax Director is responsible for managing all direct and indirect tax filings and compliance matters for the Jurisdiction, including the management and oversight of local country tax team members. This position is responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of each tax filing and payment, in compliance with the tax country regulations.
In addition, the interaction of the U.S. international tax rules with the local jurisdiction rules are complex and significant, depending on AbbVie’s profile within the particular jurisdiction and this position will take leadership in driving and influencing the overall modeling and computations related thereto, in addition to the interaction with the Global Minimum Tax rules of Pillar Two.
It requires appropriate leadership qualities to manage and own the whole tax processes in accordance with the Primary Tax SOP. The Tax Director will be able to independently address issues raised by stakeholders and to provide sound advice.
The Tax Director while reporting to the Head of Tax CoE is an important partner for the US Corporate Tax Group with respect to the application of the AbbVie Tax Operating Model (TOM) and to determine the overall Abbvie tax obligation with respect to profits earned in the jurisdiction, providing leadership on complex projects such as analysis of foreign and U.S. law and regulatory changes, IRS audit support, and restructuring projects.
Reporting to the Head of Tax CoE the Tax Director is the primary contact for all tax compliance matters for the jurisdiction and, mainly responsible for;
· Governing the full Tax Operation Model to cover all direct and indirect tax compliance requirements, including activities such as: reviewing and approving tax filings, payments and refund claims, validating local GAAP Tax provisions, supporting the Corporate US Tax group for the US GAAP Tax provision validation, coordinating all stakeholder activities involved in tax processes with particular reference to Tax Service providers;
· Managing and developing team members, including providing career development input and oversight, review of work product, and assistance with skill development;
· Work collaboratively with the Corporate US Transfer Pricing group in monitoring the adequate local profitability and the development of contemporaneous documentation to satisfy transfer pricing rules;
· Taking the lead, in cooperation with the Corporate US Tax group, in providing local country support for direct and indirect taxes perspective regarding the execution of business transactions/initiatives, contracts, M&A, tax controversy, maintenance of tax grants, or any other tax questions and issues as arising;
· Work with stakeholders to understand AbbVie’s global supply chain and provide input to strategic Corporate decisions regarding in country investments, as well as effectively track, measure and manage key enterprise direct and indirect tax risks, including the risk of non-compliance, for AbbVie’ global supply chain;
· Work closely with the Corporate Tax Operations group to drive and influence the overall modeling and computations related to the international components of the federal tax return, including GILTI, Subpart F, Foreign Tax Credit, Forms 5471/1118, and notices/disclosures as they interact with the local jurisdictional tax footprint;
· Ensuring maintenance of appropriate supporting documents for direct and indirect tax returns in accordance with local direct and indirect tax rules and ensuring that a full audit trail is available in the event of an audit;
· Leading/managing tax audits with authorities and tracking tax audit developments, including maintaining relationships with local tax authorities and local service providers;
· Contribute to the analysis and validation of tax accounts and reserves, including U.S. international tax rules and application to in-country profits;
· Develop, maintain, and deliver guidance on the correct treatment of direct and indirect taxes for financial statement purposes;
· Proactively monitoring direct and indirect tax legislation and regulation, court cases, published circulars and policies, including Pillar Two tax rules and interactions with local country and U.S. tax rules;
· Performing tax research, including interpreting and analyzing, on significant tax positions in order to properly manage the related tax risks; and
· Providing management and technical leadership on tax matters, include applying highly advanced tax knowledge to support business needs.

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
