Purpose
The Director, Early Talent Pipeline role is responsible for developing and executing strategies to attract, engage, and develop early career talent across the organization. This role leads programs targeting externs, interns, recent graduates, and entry-level professionals (including MD, PharmD, PhD candidates), and partners with HR, business units, and educational institutions to build a strong talent pipeline for future organizational needs. This role directly leads these strategies across the US portfolio and will work to establish core standards and approaches for early talent programs globally at AbbVie.
Responsibilities
- Strategically oversee the design, implementation, and operational excellence of robust early talent programs—including internships, co-ops, and rotational opportunities.
- Lead the creation and implementation of robust, scalable development programs—including structured onboarding, learning curricula, mentorship, and accelerated skill-building initiatives.
- Build effective partnerships with universities, colleges, and other educational institutions.
- Develop and monitor program metrics, regularly assessing and refining processes to boost effectiveness and improve outcomes.
- Collaborate with leaders across business functions to align early talent programs with workforce needs.
- Drive branding and outreach initiatives to promote the organization as an employer of choice for early talent.
- Lead with data—analyze talent metrics, measure program success, and drive continuous improvement.
- Inspire and lead a team responsible for program operations, candidate experience, and post-hire integration.
- Manage program budgets and resources with excellence and accountability.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in business, HR, or related field
- 12+ years’ experience in talent acquisition, university relations, or program management
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Proven ability to design and scale talent programs
- Excellent communication and presentation skills

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this postingbased on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more orless than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is eligible to participate in our long-term incentive programs.

Where We Work
Role is primarily site- or office-based but can occasionally be performed remotely. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
