Purpose: As a key member of the R&D Procurement Team this role provides maximum value to the corporation through coordinated strategic sourcing and category management for Research & Development goods and services.
Job Description
- Positions the company for optimum supply chain value through selection of quality suppliers, fact-based negotiations, and performance-based contracting to protect the company interests.
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for a designated AbbVie function. Ensure global participation, alignment and adoption.
- Market Analysis, Spend Analysis, RFI/RFP/RFQ, Supplier Evaluation, Contract Negotiation, Risk Management, Compliance.
- Lead organization through significant initiatives.
- Gain senior stakeholder alignment.
- Assemble successful cross functional teams to develop cost modeling and analytics, evaluate total cost, total savings potential, sourcing options, regulatory/legal/quality impact and production/operation impact of sourcing opportunities.
- Drive and manage change and process efficiencies.
- Build and develop a team that exhibits all aspects of AbbVie Culture. Provide leadership to personnel.
- Obtain and maintain an in- depth knowledge of individual category expertise, brand positioning, supplier base, market strategy, stakeholder strategy, investment strategy, brand life cycle, regulatory rulings, compliance changes and industry trends.

Bachelor’s Degree: Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Chemistry/Biology or like degree. M.S. Business Administration, Finance or Technical preferred.
12 years of total combined minimum experience required. Experience in Pharma preferred.
Required experiences: Recognized as Sourcing Authority, Global Experience, Project Management, Conflict Resolution, Seasoned Negotiator, Cost Analysis, Financial Analysis, Quality Systems, Regulatory Issues, Compliance, Contracting Experience, Technical Experience, Computer Applications.
Strong Communication/Persuasion, Presentation and Interpersonal Skills. People Management. Possess excellent skills to build relationships effectively, select and matrix manage subject matter experts appropriately and productively interface with all levels of management.
Strong project and change management skills.
