The Digital Transformation Lead serves as the Cork site's digital subject matter expert and strategic driver. This is a highly collaborative, individual contributor role requiring a strong ability to influence, align, and mobilise cross-functional teams — including Operations, Quality, Engineering, BTS, Tech Ops and Supply Chain — without direct line management authority.
The Lead will take full ownership of the site digital roadmap: defining priorities, sequencing initiatives, securing stakeholder commitment, and tracking delivery against measurable outcomes. They will translate global digital manufacturing strategies into locally relevant, executable plans that deliver real operational value improving; efficiency, quality, and agility across the Cork site.
The Digital Transformation Lead will work closely with departmental leaders and AbbVie's global digital networks to ensure the Cork site remains at the forefront of pharmaceutical digital innovation, with a clear line of sight from digital investment to business impact.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Own and maintain the Cork site Digital Roadmap; defining priorities, milestones, and success metrics in alignment with site strategy and AbbVie global digital manufacturing objectives.
- Influence and engage cross-functional stakeholders across Operations, Quality, Engineering, BTS, Tech Ops, and Supply Chain to build alignment, drive adoption, and deliver digital initiatives without direct authority.
- Identify, evaluate, and champion digital technologies (AI, IoT, automation, advanced analytics, MES, digital twin) that create measurable value for the Cork site.
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of digital projects — from business case development through to implementation, change management, and benefits realisation.
- Act as the primary site point of contact for AbbVie's global digital transformation programmes, ensuring Cork is connected to network learnings and best practices.
- Develop compelling business cases and proposals that secure leadership endorsement and investment for digital initiatives.
- Translate complex digital concepts into clear, accessible communications for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Establish governance structures for digital project tracking, reporting, and portfolio management across the site.
- Drive digital capability uplift across the site by partnering with functional teams to embed digital tools, data literacy, and technology-enabled ways of working.
- Monitor and report on the impact of digital initiatives using KPIs and performance data, driving continuous improvement.
- Champion data integrity, cybersecurity awareness, and compliance with relevant regulatory and data privacy requirements across all digital programmes.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor digital practices — proactively bringing insights back to the site.
- Actively contribute to AbbVie's operational excellence and digital transformation goals by embracing AI tools, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field. A postgraduate qualification in Digital Transformation, Data Science, or Technology Management is advantageous.
- Extensive experience in digital transformation, technology strategy, or related roles — ideally within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical or life sciences environment.
- Demonstrated experience owning and delivering a digital or technology roadmap.
- Proven track record of leading complex, cross-functional digital programmes and delivering measurable business outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through influence — mobilising and aligning cross-functional teams without direct line management authority.
- Experience building and managing stakeholder relationships at all levels, including senior leadership.
- Deep knowledge of digital technologies including AI/ML, IoT, automation, advanced analytics, MES, data visualisation, and digital twin technologies.
- Highly collaborative with an ability to build trust, credibility, and influence across organisational boundaries.

Where We Work
Role is exclusively performed at a site or office and onsite presence is required. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
