1. Digital Strategy and Project Execution: Responsible for use case analysis, execution of projects that deliver innovation and digital enablement and management of strategic digital projects through a robust selection process involving proof of concept and business case analysis. Design, Develop and Execute comprehensive digital roadmap initiatives including robotics, advanced manufacturing automation, AI literacy programs, and paperless operations transformation.
2. Strategic Planning and Leadership: Collaborate with the SLT to identify department needs, priorities, and digital projects, establishing schedules and timetables. Partner with Site Strategy & Transformation Director in Leading site Digital Transformation Strategy, fostering a culture of continuous improvement in business processes and personnel development.: Lead AI adoption strategy and ensure alignment across all digital initiatives (robotics, automation, paperless systems, and AI literacy).
3. Collaboration and Partnership: Build strategic partnerships to further digital objectives. Develop a strong community of practice on digitalization with global functions and other manufacturing sites, ensuring best practices are shared. Establish and sustain an innovation community for AI and advanced automation technologies, fostering knowledge transfer across the AbbVie manufacturing ecosystem.
4. Digitalization Strategy and Support: Provide and sustain the Site's digitalization strategy and roadmap in alignment with IME business imperatives and BTS capabilities.: Architect comprehensive digital transformation roadmap spanning robotics integration, manufacturing automation, Industry 4.0 technologies, AI literacy site-wide, and enabled paperless processes.
5. Influence, Leadership, and Strategic Development: Responsible for Digital Manufacturing Continuous Improvement programs in relationship with cross-functional Site department.
6. MES & Connected Plant: Manage MES and Connected Plant team for both API and Pharma plant to coordinate the recipes design and validation and systems improvement.
7. Digital Innovations: Lead the Digital Innovation team in managing all strategic digital collaborating closely with local teams such as Plant Engineering Department, Production Department and QA and global teams to ensure alignment and success. Spearhead advanced technology evaluation (robotics, AI/ML solutions, automation platforms, paperless software); manage proof-of-concept initiatives and business use cases identification and development for strategic digital/ai investments.
8. Team Management: Establish and advance a high performing team of SMEs by recruiting, training, coaching, and developing people. Build and mentor cross-functional team of digital specialists, robotics engineers, AI literacy trainers, and automation experts; foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
9. EHS: Demonstrate accountability and responsibility for EHS and Energy performance and compliance.
- Master Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Software) or equivalent advanced technical degree
- At least 5 years of experience in manufacturing departments, Chemical and/or Pharma production processes, with strong understanding of compliance requirements for both production and computer systems
- Fluent English language
- Experience in managerial roles in complex organizations
- Knowledge of computer systems and enterprise software platforms
- Proven experience leading digital transformation initiatives in manufacturing environments
- Experience with robotics, automation systems, or Industry 4.0 technologies
- Knowledge of AI/ML fundamentals and their application in manufacturing
- Familiarity with MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and ERP systems
- Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent)
- Background in paperless/digitalization process optimization
- Experience with change management in large-scale digital transformations
- Previous experience in pharmaceutical or similarly regulated (Food, Consumer Goods,…) manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of IoT platforms and connected systems

Pay Range: $
62000 - 113500 EUR
Where We Work
Role is primarily site- or office-based but can occasionally be performed remotely. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
