Purpose
This position is an opportunity for an early career candidate to join AbbVie’s Business Technology Solutions (BTS), Research and Development aligned technology team, R&D Global Therapeutics. This role will work collaboratively with technology and business groups to help build and deploy scalable Artificial Intelligence (AI) Applications and Platforms.
The Data Scientist will work closely with the Business Systems Consultant and Technical Product Owner to Identify, develop, and optimize new AI techniques and solutions. These projects require integration, visualization, and analysis of data to address critical business needs in a timely manner. Read and adapt literature and publicly available information to accomplish assignments. Demonstrate broad and versatile technical expertise in software development and data science.
Responsibilities
- Independently design and develop techniques and solutions to answer scientific or business questions through the integration, visualization, and analysis of data. Demonstrate proficiency across a range of technologies related to the storage, transfer, integration, visualization, and analysis of large and complex data sets.
- Consistently deliver projects in a timely manner. Perform routine and complex tasks competently and independently and generate reliable and consistent results.
- Understand the broad objectives of the project as well as his/her role in achieving those objectives, and modify approach when required.
- Effectively organize and present project objectives and progress.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the pharmaceutical business, and utilize this knowledge in the rapid advancement of agile, impactful, and cost-effective solutions
- Implement new methods and technologies.
- Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies, including code of conduct, safety, GxP compliance, and data security.
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and at 4 years of experience, Master’s Degree or equivalent education and at least 2 years of experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- Knowledge of software development best practices.
- Ability to multitask and work within timelines.
- Experience with AWS services and deployments.
- Proficient in Python.
- Proficient in Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
- Strong written and oral English communication skills.
Beneficial:
- Background in life sciences or work experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred.
- Technical writing experience a plus

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
