**This is a hybrid position based in Lake County, IL**
Purpose
Describe the primary goals, objectives or functions or outputs of this position. AbbVie Brand and Commercial Operation (BCo) Business Technology Solutions (BTS) is seeking smart, ambitious, problem solvers who want to develop a career in Data Engineering and help AbbVie make a remarkable impact on peoples’ lives. This role will work in a collaborative and Agile environment to design and build data centric solutions that aim to compliantly assist in the physicians’ education of AbbVie’s approved products. This helps the physicians make the most informed treatment decision for their patients. The Data Engineer will work collaboratively, as part of an Agile team, with Data Scientists, Analytics Specialists, Marketing, and other business functions to conceive, design, build, and enhance the team’s models. The work will be fast-paced, dynamic, and afford many learning opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Extraction and combination of multiple internal and external data sets.
- Onboarding, consolidating, cleansing, and structuring data for efficient use in reports, analytical applications, and machine learning models.
- Pressure-testing data requirements to ensure accurate and meaningful data delivery.
- Responsible for discovery of available data.
- Responsible for effective cross-functional stakeholder management.
- Performing data analysis and reconciliation on datasets of varying sizes and complexities.
- Compiling and presenting accurate data engineering estimates.
- Presenting data engineering status directly to the data and business stakeholders.
- Liaison between the digital brand team (DBT) and BCo BTS.
- Explaining distributions of data to the data and business stakeholders.
Required:
- Bachelors degree in relevant field and at least 5 years relevant experience OR Masters degree in relevant field and at least 4 years experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially in communicating complex technical concepts to business stakeholders.
- Effective in managing stakeholders from various business functions and engaging proactively in conversations that drive toward meaningful and timely business outcomes.
- Must be proficient in the following data analysis programming languages: SQL & Python
- Must understand, and be able to apply, data lake and relational database concepts.
- Must be proficient in gathering data and technical requirements from cross-functional partners.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to analyze data, identify trends, interpret metrics, and make data-driven decisions.
Preferred:
- Experience with Dataiku.
- Understands the pharmaceutical ecosystem including personas of providers, patients, payers, distributors, and policy makers.
- Experience with R and Spark programming languages.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.
