Job Description

The Contracts & Outsourcing Specialist is responsible for the timely and appropriate execution of contracts for the Development Biological Sciences organization. The Contract Management Specialist will collaborate with Department Management, Vendor Management, Procurement, Finance, and other internal stakeholders to secure scientific services from outside suppliers

Obtain supplier quotations based on requests for proposal documents authored by Development Sciences scientists
Submit supplier proposals selected by Development Sciences Management to Procurement, in accordance with AbbVie purchasing policies
Submit consulting agreement requests to the Central Consultancy Group
Ensure contract requests are submitted with accurate financial sourcing information and that vetting of selected suppliers has been appropriately documented based on scope of work (e.g., GxP Supplier QAU, Global Animal Welfare Committee, AbbVie Data Security Team)
Confirm accuracy of supplier invoices based on contract details and authorize payment based on guidance from AbbVie scientists overseeing suppliers’ work
Monitor contract-associated spend and proactively alert business stakeholders when purchase orders require additional funds to ensure continuity of services
Serve as the main point of contact to resolve supplier invoice payment issues
Facilitate management of suppliers’ financial information, including updates to existing suppliers and onboarding of new suppliers

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent years of experience
Minimum five years’ experience supporting outsourcing activities, preferably in a pharmaceutical research and development environment, including direct interactions with external suppliers
Proficiency in the use of software systems for contract requests and financial transaction approvals

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.
