Job Description

The Construction Estimator works with Project Engineers and construction services to review drawings and identify materials required to perform tasks, order materials and estimate labor requirements to support the completion of project within scope of responsibility.

•Performs a combination of specialized duties involved in the estimating, coordinating, and organizing of project related jobs.

•Accepts and reviews construction blueprints, specifications and other relevant documents and conducts field checks to prepare estimates.

•Reviews blueprints for value engineering opportunities. Utilizes knowledge of existing facilities to provide customers with alternate implementation options to save on installation costs.

•Creates installation proposals with associated cost estimates for customer requests when no blueprints are available. Reviews customer requirements, existing facility conditions, and code requirements to propose cost effective solutions.

•Implements AbbVie standards and specs along with codes governing the tasks which are being estimated.

•Estimates labor for jobs, prepares material requirements, and specifies tools and necessary safety equipment when required.

•Orders parts from stockroom; initiates purchase requisitions for job materials and spare parts.

•Coordinates with external vendors to specify, order, and receive materials for jobs. Tracks the status of ordered materials

•Coordinates work with other Supervisors and operating departments.

•Instructs the trades person in the proper method or procedure of performing the job as needed.

•Will be required to regularly lift a minimum of 25 Ibs, occasionally a maximum of 50 Ibs. During the work shift.


Qualifications

•Must have a high school education or equivalent and a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a trade specific to a position applying for within a commercial or industrial work environment.

•Must possess good written and verbal communication skills

•Must possess good mathematic skills

•Must be experienced with computer maintenance management systems, e-mail and calendaring.

•Must have multi-skilled trades capability and be familiar with the application and operation of all basic tools and equipment used by various trades groups.

•Must be knowledgeable of various computer systems and programs used in facility operations

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.​

  • We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick), medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.​

  • This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs. ​
