Job Summary
The Clinical Specialist Manager (CSM) works for the Allergan Medical Institute® and will enhance organizational clinical training capabilities through management of the Clinical Specialist (CS) team in country. They will provide guidance, strategic and tactical direction to the CS team responsible for the implementation and execution of the country Clinical Facilitation Pathway. The CSM will also provide regular coaching to their CS team helping to further develop their skills and knowledge in facial aesthetics, teaching, facilitating with and coaching our HCP customer-base. The CSM will also establish and maintain strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders, and act as key point of contact with customers & KOL’s for optimal educational requirements.
This position is field based. Achieving agreed education and training activities through clinical specialists and internal/external workshops. This will be done by establishing effective processes for clinical facilitation, training resource allocation across accounts and impact tracking in collaboration with Head of Sales and AMI Lead.
Detailed Description of Main tasks and responsibilities :
CS Team Management (70%)
• Supervision and management of the CS team in the assigned accounts that is strategically aligned to the organizational and AMI objectives and is industry leading in both scientific and clinical content, with the end objective of creating independent and confident injectors. Lead the team of CS to plan & organise:
o 1:1 in-clinic facilitation with selected HCPs
o Small group trainings with AMI Faculty: 1:6 and 1:10
o Larger faculty-led group trainings e.g. Boot camps and Mentee-led programmes.
• Ensure all CS team members complete their VEEVA CRM daily, and to report back to AMI Lead, monthly, on CS activity utilizing the Clinical Facilitation Power BI Dashboard.
• Conduct frequent field visits with each Clinical Specialist (approximately 80% of available time will be field based work), developing an effective framework / goal for each field visit and implement plans to drive growth.
• Create a positive team environment through the demonstration of strong leadership behaviors, including communicating expectations clearly, instilling an atmosphere of trust and respect, and leading by example.
• Use a mix of coaching and development tools to help each team member realize their full potential. Performing all related people management activities, including recruiting new team members, conducting performance reviews, coaching for improved performance, reward and recognition, etc.
• Ensure all educational activities comply with legal, regulatory and ethical standards. Manage the teams’ expenses within the agreed budget and contribute towards the setting of future budgets.
Drive CS team valued-added HCP education (15%)
• Supports and promotes educational curricula, within AA AMI Digital World (AMIDW), through the CS team to their HCPs undertaking the Clinical Facilitation Pathway.
• Develop clinical facilitation and workshop execution strategy with targeted accounts to meet business goals.
• Support AMI lead in Trainer/Faculty engagement strategies and activities.
• Maintain an in-depth understanding of Allergan’s Facial Aesthetics range of products, facial anatomy, best practice of assessment and consultation process, as well as injection techniques, Allergan’s competitors and their product ranges. Be able to communicate the value difference in terms of efficacy, safety, price and market strategy to customers.
• Ensure you are fully up to date on all relevant domestic and international clinical studies. Use this information to provide additional sales support to the team and engage clients.
Supports AMI Lead in excellent educational delivery including AMI event (15%)
• Supports with the delivery of key local AMI events as requested by the AMI Lead. Including, but not limited to, attendance at industry conferences & AMI meetings & MD Codes™ Mentee Programme taking key learnings and communicating these to further support CS team development and effectiveness in-clinic.
• Develop challenging team goals and business strategies that are fully aligned with the overall Allergan business strategy. Communicating this vision and goals in a clear and compelling way to the team.
• Work closely with team members to develop and foster strategic long-term relationships with key customers.
• Work closely with the Marketing and Medical Education team to contribute to the development of marketing and medical education plans and drive the execution of these plans through the clinical specialist team.
• Ensure you are fully briefed on all marketing campaigns and materials and their related strategies.
• Degree qualifications or equivalent in Science and Healthcare.
• Minimum of 5-8 years of experience within the pharmaceutical & medical device industry in a field-based sales or clinical role is preferred.
• Prior experience of managing a team
• Proven organizational, presentation and problem-solving skills
• Proven ability to interact with key opinion leaders
• A proactive and decisive mindset
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Ability to drive a motor vehicle with a valid driver’s license.
• Strong understanding of the selling cycle, Able to understand the clinical and scientific aspects of Allergan Aesthetics therapeutic areas.
• Practical working knowledge of clinical facilitation process, including aseptic techniques
