Business Unit Manager – Rheumatology (Team of 25+)

  • Based from the Maidenhead office with 3/2 Flexible working model.
  • Reporting to the BUD Immunology and leading a team of 25+ people

The role:

As part of the Immunology Leadership Team, placing the patient at the center of any efforts, the mission of the Business Unit Manager, Rheumatology is to ensure faster patient access to our Rheumatology portfolio in the UK and best prepare for future indication launches.  

 

Highlighted responsibilities: 

  • Lead and inspire the Rheumatology Brand Team around a brand vision and objectives that are shared by all members. 
  • Accountability for Brand Performance and P&L – leading the financial planning for Rheumatology (Financial Plan, Focus/Update, Long Range Plan). 
  • Line management of the sales and marketing teams, with dotted line reports in the rheumatology brand team. Demonstrating an ability to align, motivate and inspire others to a common goal. 
  • Marketing Expertise - Can interpret and connect multiple data sources to identify opportunities / threats. Can clearly define, articulate, and gain organisational buy in to the opportunity / area to address. 
  • Analyze performance metrics, identifying areas of strength and opportunity across the brand team. 
  • Align with affiliate functions (Regulatory Affairs, Medical, Market Access, Patient Engagement, Commercial), to define local brand strategy, strategic priorities and action plans to deliver in-market performance expectations. 
  • Be the contact person with main Global and Area teams working in Rheumatology, notably IMCO, Global Commercial Development and Region Europe. 
  • Partner effectively with the medical lead and Access lead to gain deep knowledge and understanding of data and product profiles and the environment. 
  • Create relationships with key external stakeholders to deepen understanding of the environment and help building successful strategies and tactics. 
  • Play a leadership role across the immunology division, improving our culture and developing our people. 
  • Ensure timely and qualitative market intelligence information flow to Brand Teams to form actionable insights, adjusting course when necessary 
  • Role model AbbVie Ways We Work behaviors and enable the Brand Team matrix to work in order to achieve high quality strategy and execution capability.

  • Demonstrable success in leading both Sales & Marketing teams.
  • Strong experience in managing a cross functional team 
  • Strong strategic thinking and people leadership skills  
  • Excellent analytical and strategic marketing skills 
  • Outstanding problem-solving mind-set, strong communication skills (oral, written & presentation), interpersonal skills, flexibility, prioritisation, and sense of urgency 
  • Strong ability to operate in a matrix environment and build cross-function collaborative relationships 
  • Ability to influence upwards and peers 
  • Proven ability to demonstrate strong AbbVie leadership and leaders’ attributes
