In our Specialty Care Business Unit within Commercial Pharma at the Wavre site, you will be working in a team of talented people and experienced sales and marketing experts. 

The Business Unit Manager, Neuroscience - Belgium & Luxembourg will coordinate, facilitate and lead the strategic development, tactical implementation and financial planning components of all Sales and Marketing related topics of the Brand Strategy and manage customer and other commercial activities.  

Lead and coach Sales Force to maximize brand sales and margin, placing the patient at the center of any efforts and operating within AbbVie business code of conduct, policies and all applicable laws and regulations. 

In this pivotal role, the BUM will be responsible for the generation of new businesses and launches as well as for the maintenance of existing business. 


Highlighted Key responsibilities: 

MARKET DYNAMICS AND LEADERSHIP 

  • Evaluates the current competition and the potential opportunities/threats. 

  • Encourages/promotes market awareness & competitive intelligence  in own team/organization. 

  • Builds/maintains close contact with key customers. 

  • Reviews and consolidates the plan to present an overall brand business plan for the country then the tactical plan. 

  • Provides a clear business direction to form a framework for BU sales managers to plan within.

FINANCIAL/SALES PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION 

  • Gives clear guidelines on what figures/data has to be provided as input to the financial plan.  

  • Decides the final sales plan in close collaboration with own team. Ensures the plan is detailed and consistent. 

  • Manages the BU P&L on a regular basis, monitoring and tracking divisional margin goals. 

  • Regularly reviews all aspects of financial performance and performance of own team. 

  • Analyses potential consequences of certain courses of action, i.e., models “what if’s”. 

  • Investigates unusual results. 

COUNTRY PROCESSES AND PROCEDURES 

  • Continually assesses the capability of the local/country organization to “deliver” the plan 

  • Operates within the guidelines, policies and procedures of the OEC for the country; ensures no violations occur. 

  • Ensures regulatory compliance for the BU. 

ORGANIZATION AND PEOPLE MANAGEMENT 

  • Redesigns the local/country organization to ensure its “capability to deliver” at minimum cost.  

  • Instills/reinforces AbbVie culture in local organization. 

  • Sets/maintains high standards of recruitment/selection. 

  • Ensures the sales team is focused on priority areas of business. 

  • Defines responsibilities and sets performance standards for own team. 

  • Ensures all staff receives adequate training to enable superior performance. 

  • Coaches and develops own team by giving honest feedback on performance.  

  • Motivates all staff by giving appropriate reward and recognition to major achievements of the key individuals and the entire team. 

COMPANY SUPPORT 

  • Builds/maintains close contact to Affiliate, EHQ and other Country Business Units. 


Qualifications

  • Relevant university degree. Science/Applied Science/ Business discipline   

  • Significant Marketing / Brand Management and omni-channel experience as well as in-field experience in a Sales, Medical or Market Access function 

  • Experience in leading marketing /infield teams as well as cross-functional teams: proven track record in successfully building up high-performing teams and guiding them through change  

  • Therapeutic area experience: experience of working on more than one indication to demonstrate versatility and depth in your professional background- Ideally Neurosciences knowledge. Knowledge of external stakeholder environment and market access issues 

  • Financial Acumen: strong understanding of financial concepts, particularly the ability to manage a P&L, and Budget submission  

  • Strong strategic mindset, with the ability to translate strategies into actionable and realistic marketing actions 

  • Strong change agent and understanding for future trends within pharma 

  • Language skills: excellent English and French and/or Dutch to converse with global and local stakeholders as well as HCPs and patient advocacy groups alike 

  • Candidates should be willing and able to relocate internationally for future assignments within the company in the mid-term.
