The “Winning with Data” (WWD) capability in AbbVie’s International Commercial Business is driving the transformation of the organization into a data driven decision-making organization and is seeking an experienced and talented Business Intelligence Engineer to join our team.
In this role, you will be at the forefront of transforming data into actionable insights, playing a key role in driving informed decision-making across the organization. As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you will design and implement robust BI solutions, collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver cutting-edge analytics. Your expertise in data visualization, statistical analysis, and proficiency in web development technologies will contribute to the success of our data-driven initiatives.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Design, develop, and maintain robust business intelligence solutions, including dashboards, reports, and data visualizations in PowerBI.
- Generate and maintain highly reusable code using JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
- Design, develop, and maintain robust web applications utilizing JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into effective data solutions.
- Utilize advanced analytics and statistical methods to extract actionable insights from large datasets.
- Work closely with data architects to ensure the availability and integrity of data for analysis.
- Implement data quality checks and contribute to data governance initiatives.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in business intelligence and analytics.
- Provide training and support to end-users on BI tools and solutions.
- Significant Work Activities -Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day)

Experiences that make you a strong candidate for this role:
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree with 6 years’ experience; Master’s Degree with 5 years’ experience; PhD with 0 years’ experience.
- 3+ years of experience as a Business Intelligence Engineer or in a similar role
- Proficiency in BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
- Solid understanding of web development technologies, including proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Experience with front-end frameworks/libraries such as React, Angular, or Vue.js to enhance interactive data visualizations.
- Knowledge of RESTful APIs and the ability to integrate data from web services into BI solutions.
- Strong programming skills in SQL and Python.
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and technologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse teams.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git, for collaborative development.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues related to web-based BI applications.
Beneficial:
- Certification in PowerBI, Cloud platforms, or related areas
- Proficiency in containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with Veeva CRM, Reltio, SAP and/or Palantir Foundry.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical industry regulations, such as data privacy laws, is highly desirable.
