We have an opportunity for an Analyst, Business Intelligence to join our Market Access & Government Affairs team. The Analyst has not only a keen awareness of the challenges faced by our industry, but also a clear and deep understanding of the Canadian Affiliate and assigned brands’ strategic objectives. In this role, you will translate this knowledge and understanding into meaningful market research projects and analysis that generate actions and recommendations. You will also gain an in-depth comprehension of key date sources, its use and its implication, including but not limited to, IQVIA data and social media. The Analyst will also interpret market trends in a way that helps AbbVie Canada make more strategic business decisions. This position is based in Montreal (Saint-Laurent) and reports to the Pharmacy Partnership &Strategy Manager.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop a deep understanding of products, competitive landscape and strategic challenges across our portfolio and for the affiliate as it relates to pharmacy and trade.
Partner with our internal customers:
- Contribute to the annual market research brand plans based on a sound and complete understanding of strategic needs and challenges of assigned brands and affiliate.
- Assess and anticipate brands’ and affiliate’s strategic information needs throughout the year.
- Provide regular informational support to brand teams and the Canadian Affiliate, and, actively participate and contribute in brand team meetings as an ad hoc member
- Recommend and implement methods by which brand/project KPI’s, benchmarking and ROI measurements are tracked.
- Provide input to brand plans by providing updates on key customer issues and by recommending actionable initiatives based on strategies, opportunities and challenges.
- Ensure the collection of key insights.
- Ensure internalization and activation of insights in the brand teams and affiliate.
Plan, design and execute Market Research and/or data analysis projects:
- Challenge and counsel brand teams, the affiliate, area and global teams in the most appropriate ways to obtain customer and competitive insights to exploit opportunities and help overcome challenges.
- Develop, oversee & implement appropriate market research projects efficiently, in a timely manner and cost effectively.
Understand data sources:
- Develop/have a good understanding of the different information sources available to the business intelligence team and their connectivity.
- Mine existing data sources to ensure maximum use.
- Investigate new data sources, including social media, to evaluate relevance and applicability.
Support and promote the value of Retail, Specialty and Hospital Pharmacies and wholesalers by:
- Investigate innovative and best practice approaches to gathering insights, including the social media sites as another tool to gather insights.
- Support short and long-term department goals by providing feedback on areas for improvement based on customer feedback and your own observations.
- Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues both locally and internationally.
Administrative responsibilities:
- Regularly evaluate and negotiate with existing and new market research or data suppliers to ensure maximum benefit while minimizing cost to the organization.
- Ensure that all relevant supplier/department paperwork and contracts are duly completed and catalogued.
- Log and maintain business intelligence project database.
Education/Experience required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Science related field or equivalent is required.
- Relevant business experience with proven track record of success.
- Market research and project management experience (Minimum of two years).
- Knowledge of biotechnology / pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
- Previous experience with pharmacy and/or wholesaler data is an asset.
- Ability to think and plan strategically (work plans, activities, timetables, targeting) and operating with execution excellence.
- Robust knowledge and understanding of data sources and application of data to answer questions.
Essential skills & abilities:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.).
- Must be at ease with technology (the use of various tools/systems to perform day-to-day tasks).
- Clear understanding of IQVIA data and software is an asset.
