The genetic medicine group of AbbVie in Worcester is opening a full time Associate Scientist position for candidates who are experienced with mammalian tissue culture, in vitro cell-based assays (e.g. transfection, transduction, transcytosis assay), in vitro imaging and analysis, FACS, and plate based binding assays (e.g. ELISA and MSD). Experiences in siRNA and AAV are preferred. Background in genetic medicine drug discovery is highly desired. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross functional teams. S/he will be expected to create experimental plans, analyze data, and report results.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform screening and characterization of siRNA, siRNA-protein conjugate using in vitro assays and/or in vitro imaging systems
- Execute cell-based binding and functional assays using mammalian tissue culture systems for therapeutic siRNA and siRNA-protein conjugate
- Identify, develop, and optimize new methods/assays to generate reliable and reproducible data in a timely manner.
- Independently execute designed experiment plans and interpret study observations.
- Effectively and accurately record and report experiment results.
- Troubleshoot effectively and think proactively.
- Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent education, with typically 3 or more years of laboratory experience or Master’s Degree or equivalent education (no additional experience).
- Knowledge, experience and passion with drug discovery.
- Experience with mammalian cell culture, ELISA/MSD, ddPCR and flow cytometry.
- Experience with molecular biology, cellular imaging, siRNA is a plus.
- Experience with genetic medicine is preferred.
- Excellent material and data managing and organizing abilities.
- Excellent communication and learning abilities.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.
