Job Description

The Associate Director, US Conventions is part of the Digital Lab and will be responsible for playing an integral part of the HCP Channel CRM team. The role will provide oversight of AbbVie’s top Commercial conventions including convention digital product ownership.

This role will provide leadership and support for HCP marketing initiatives leading:

  • The US Conventions team by providing oversight, guidance, direction and coaching to direct reports to ensure flawless Convention execution.
  • Conventions channel subject matter expertise and best in class operations.
  • Product ownership of the evolving HCP CRM Conventions capabilities establishing ways of working, best practices, foundational set up, operating models and use cases.

 
Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborate with Marketing leads, BSG, Finance, Customer Experience, Medical, OEC/Compliance, Regulatory, Media, CCG/SEM, and Marketing Ops fostering deep and continuous cross functional partnerships to assist the team with seamless convention execution and best practices.
  • Partner with brand teams to develop cost effective and innovative strategies levering in house data to assess convention metrics and provide recommendations.
  • Budgetary responsibility, owning Conventions Enterprise budget. Identify funding needs required and communicate through the brand planning, BTS planning, and the capital planning processes.
  • Product owner for the Conference Connect App (ConCon). Also, acquire a full understanding of the AbbVie Digital Lab Convention capabilities such as in house scanning applications, emails, dashboards, and future enhancements. Educate Brand Marketing and Omnichannel partners on available capabilities.
    • Identify, assess, and prioritize requests for new capabilities as requested by Brands.  Lead Brand team awareness, pilot planning, and adoption of these new capabilities.  Co-create operating models with cross-functional teams to scale these emerging capabilities.
    • Troubleshoot roadblocks and identify creative and compliant solutions to facilitate forward motion of new technology/initiatives.
    • Provide input on the marketing technology enhancements road.
    • Identify and document best practices for Brands to utilize when rolling out new enhancements/new initiatives (e.g. creating communicating and determining best channel for communication) and socialize across franchise teams.
    • Understand the long-term integration implications related to conventions
  • Oversee vendor management including reviewing bi-annual presentations/share outs, spearheading Master Service Agreement updates, RFPs, and audits as needed.
  • Represent Conventions during brand and center leadership meetings to highlight Convention successes and challenges across various stakeholder functional areas.

  • Strong project management abilities and critical work tool experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Marketing with seven to ten (7-10) years of experience.
  • Prior people management preferred
  • Experience in identifying the business need for and developing a launch plan for new capabilities within an organization.
  • Extensive project management skills and strong follow-through demonstrated across the project lifecycle.
  • Proven track record of ability to influence and communicate clearly to stakeholders across all levels and various functions within an organization
  • Strong experience with Conventions in an operational/executional capacity.
  • MBA or equivalent education and/or experience in Marketing, Business, or related field
  • Experience in pharmaceuticals or another highly regulated industry preferred, but may not be required for a candidate with an exceptional track record of success in planning & implementing conventions that can apply to AbbVie
  • Strong track record of success in managing multiple, complex project needs and collaborating across internal & external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Persuasive verbal and written communication skills

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
