This is a hybrid role with 3 days onsite in the AbbVie North Chicago office.
The Associate Director, Procurement Communications and Integrated Management leads the development, execution, and oversight of global communications and integrated management initiatives within the Procurement organization. This strategic role is accountable for elevating the reputation and internal culture of Procurement, driving business priorities, and maximizing value through effective stakeholder engagement, best-in-class communications, and project management of strategic organizational priorities, such as Procurement Transformation. The position serves as a strategic counselor to the Procurement Leadership Team, providing expert guidance on communications, change management, and transformation efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute comprehensive communications strategies aligned to Procurement and enterprise priorities, ensuring clear messages, stakeholder engagement, defined timelines, budgets, and contingency plans.
- Oversee the creation and implementation of annual and project-specific communications plans to support Procurement’s business objectives and raise executive visibility to strengthen stakeholder collaboration and demonstrate AbbVie’s leadership in Procurement.
- Collaborate across global, cross-functional teams—including Corporate Communications, Procurement Leadership, and external partners—to drive high-impact initiatives and ensure consistent messaging throughout all channels.
- Lead end to end project management for Procurement-wide strategic initiatives that are enterprising impacting, such as Procurement Culture, overseeing timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure successful on-time, on-budget delivery.
- Manage the review and approval process for external and internal communications materials, ensuring quality, alignment, and timely delivery.
- Engage with key stakeholders—including senior business leaders, employees, and suppliers—to build advocacy, enhance reputation, and support a high-performing culture.
- Integrate innovation, best practices, and the latest communications technologies into Procurement communications programs; assess impact and continuously improve efforts.
- Support planning, logistics and execution of Procurement Supplier Conference, town halls, site visits and strategic events on a local and global level, including liaising with affiliates and other partners to ensure events are flawlessly executed and clearly convey strategic messaging.
- Administer the ongoing maintenance, organization, and governance of the Procurement SharePoint site, resource library, and Procurement mailbox, ensuring accessibility, accuracy, and up-to-date resources for all stakeholders.
Key Stakeholders: Procurement Leadership, Corporate Communications, Business Human Resources, Procurement employees, external agencies, suppliers, and cross-functional enterprise teams.
- Bachelor’s degree required (preferred fields: Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business, Journalism, or similar).
- Minimum 10 years’ related experience, including at least 5 years in a senior communications, procurement, or related high-level business environment.
- Strong project management skills with a proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional initiatives, timelines, and budgets.
- Track record of partnering with senior management/executive leadership; strong executive presence.
- Demonstrated expertise in internal and external communications, change management, integrated project management, and stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent written and verbal skills; executive and change/employee communication experience preferred.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to anticipate company and team needs
- Experience managing agencies and vendors; ability to manage complex budgets in compliance with company and industry policies.
- Experience in the healthcare/biopharma industry and global/matrix organizations a plus.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.

Pay Range: $
137500 - 261000 USD
Where We Work
Role is primarily site- or office-based but can occasionally be performed remotely. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
