Job Description

The Portfolio Insights team is responsible for driving analysis of key value metrics, supports the organization in making informed portfolio choices within a Therapeutic Area (TA) and drives cross-prioritization above TA in alignment with larger strategic goals. TA-aligned members are responsible for ensuring project level decision analysis.

The Associate Director, Portfolio Insights - Solid Tumors is an individual contributor position reporting into Director of Portfolio Insights (Solid Tumors). This role is responsible for interacting with functional stakeholders, linking across various functional inputs, assembling inputs to inform productivity analyses, conducting tradeoff analyses and developing high quality outputs.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive high-impact project-level analyses within the solid tumor area, focusing on strategic priorities.
  • Partner with ASLs (asset strategy leader), program managers, pipeline commercial leads and forecasting teams to build value metrics (e.g. NPV) to support key drug development decisions
  • Partner with ASLs, PMs, medical directors and regulatory leads to assess PTRS (probability of technical and regulatory success) for drug development projects
  • Work with other members of the portfolio insights team to support cross-TA prioritization
  • In collaboration with the Director, map out potential options / scenarios and conduct analyses to inform trade-offs to support Sr. Leadership decision making on project investments
  • Engage effectively with functional stakeholders (e.g., Finance, PPM) to drive appropriate linkages and constructively pressure testing assumptions/ inputs
  • Present key findings and insights to senior leadership as needed
  • Collaborate with manager in taking input from cross-functional partners and leadership to drive continuous improvement in decision quality
  • Conduct ad-hoc short-term analyses or strategic projects at leadership request

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in scientific or business field required; MBA and PhD in scientific field preferred
  • 7-10 years of experience with multi-faceted, broad based understanding of Pharma R&D business processes, investment stage gating and commercial processes; fewer years can be considered if candidate has advanced degrees (MBA, PhD)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to details
  • Experience with multi-faceted, broad based understanding of Pharma R&D business processes, investment stage gating and commercial processes
  • Demonstrated experience working in fast paced settings, with a proven track record of delivering high quality and insightful analyses
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with proven ability to tailor analytical outputs to different audiences
  • Strong presence in meetings with willingness to navigate different functional perspectives and push for “enterprise thinking”
  • Prior experience in Management Consulting and track record of experience in R&D Strategy / Portfolio prioritization projects a plus
  • Strong organizational and project management skills commensurate with conducting multiple sophisticated analyses across several assets
