AbbVie Patient Services Associate Director – Enterprise Marketing
The AbbVie Patient Services Associate Director – Enterprise Marketing reports to the Director, APS Enterprise Marketing and is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing innovative strategies for AbbVie Patient Services’ portfolio of patient support brands. This role requires strong leadership and ability to work across a complex matrixed environment.
This role has direct reports and must demonstrate the ability to influence and lead cross-functionally to successfully drive business outcomes. The candidate must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment with high expectations and maintain a customer-centric focus that drives achievement of high quality deliverables, innovation, and performance.
Key Responsibilities Include (may shift based on business needs):
- Provide oversight of agency relationships, focusing on partnerships with their Account, Strategy, Project Management, Creative, Measurement, Digital, Media, and Social teams to elevate creative excellence and drive consistence of APS marketing programs
- Develop innovative and impactful initiatives and tactics that align to the Patient Services strategic imperatives and APS Marketing priorities
- Deliver service innovation through oversight of department trends monitoring initiatives and activate pilots against prioritized focus areas
- Deliver and articulate marketing objectives and strategies to cross-functional technology partners to inform Salesforce, Adobe, Veeva, and Five9 platform enhancements, integration solutions, and service innovations.
- Generate strategic responses to critical market disruptors
- Responsible for overall enterprise marketing budget while identifying efficiencies/synergies where possible to maximize resources.
- Lead APS Marketing Annual Planning Process and collaborate with business partners to ensure pull through across portfolio
- Lead future-focused horizon planning for APS marketing
- Partner with Marketing Business Insights and Analytics (MABI) team to (1) develop annual above brand learning plan, (2) evaluate and report on the effectiveness of campaign strategies through campaign measurement plans, key performance indicator development and formulate recommendations for optimization/scaling across brands
- Partner with internal technology and development teams to execute new technological capabilities and ownership of above-brand pilots
- Demonstrate ability to optimize change management processes as pilots generated from Enterprise Marketing are scaled across brands/franchises
- Work with AbbVie Digital Lab, Medical, Regulatory, Legal, OEC, Business and Technology Solutions to ensure comprehensive governance process upon roll-out and scaling of any new innovation or initiative
- Partner with APS Enterprise Planning Team on annual and long-range planning efforts to ensure APS organization is future fit
- Manage a team of marketing managers, prioritizing investment of time in their growth and development.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree and previous marketing leadership experience required.
- 8+ years of consumer and digital/direct marketing experience with the ideal candidate having previous Pharma marketing innovation experience
- Demonstrated ability to manage brand positioning, omnichannel strategy, end-to-end campaign management, and finance management
- Strong background in customer, patient, or HCP service and retention strategies
- Proficient planning and organization skills, attention to detail, execution, agility, and follow-through
- Experience managing omnichannel campaigns on Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe Experience Manager – or similar platforms
- Ability to manage and lead various external and internal partnerships, including agencies and production vendors
- Demonstrated experience leading marketers and cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication (oral, written, and presentation) and interpersonal skills
- Extensive experience developing marketing plans and programs - including brand positioning, brand architecture, SWOT analysis, competitive assessment, market research, marketing objectives/strategies, patient segmentation, etc.
- Previous cross-franchise/multi-channel marketing experience preferred

- Ability to elevate creative excellence and energize APS marketing to drive consistency in all marketing assets and channels
- Ability to understand, analyze, and synthesize complex business and technology challenges and translate into creative solutions
- An intellectual curiosity for emerging trends and new technologies, combined with a passion to drive the research, experimentation, implementation and adoption
- Think “outside-of-the-box” attitude and ability to demonstrate agility
- Ability to build strong working relationships across stakeholders at all levels throughout the organization.
