Associate Director, Marketing Compliance - US Commercial Compliance
Description
The Associate Director of Marketing Compliance is responsible for leading a team to monitor, advise and direct compliant execution of non-personal promotion and market research in the US Commercial business. This person will enforce compliance and adherence to all marketing materials developed and deployed in non-personal media including direct mail, home office and third-party email, HCP and consumer websites, and social media. In addition, this leader will direct monitoring and investigation of all US Commercial material review incidents, identifying root causes, ensuring mitigation and recommending remediation to impact and reduce future incidents and errors in all promotional materials developed for use in personal and non-personal promotion. In addition, they are responsible for leading the curation, collating and distribution of AbbVie HCP, patient, and consumer comments procured through Customer Service to the respective brand teams on a periodic basis.
They must be confident and comfortable with a cross functional team structure and adept at collaboration /influence management of key stakeholders including brand team leaders, Business Compliance, OEC Operations, Marketing Operations, Brand Legal, Legal Compliance, Public Affairs, BTS, Transparency, MABI, Privacy, Regulatory, Medical, Quality Assurance and other colleagues in Therapeutics, Analytics and Operations (TA&O). The position will also require the Associate Director to connect and align with all digital marketing and media leads across US Commercial. They will collaborate with US Commercial Compliance colleagues to develop communication and training for US Commercial marketers and market researchers regarding direction and guidance to decisions made by OEC and Legal and approved by Commercial Leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Building effective relationships to work collaboratively with US Commercial Leaders, US Commercial Compliance, Marketing Operations, MABI and TA&O and Cross-functional partners and other groups leading US Commercial Compliance initiatives or decisions made by OEC, Legal and Senior US Commercial or Executive leadership.
- Responsible for establishing governance and oversight of compliant market research practices by MABI within TA&O in US Commercial; this includes monitoring of market research execution and proper payment of honoraria. Leads mitigation and remediation of market research incidents and errors.
- Responsible for intake, training and communication of new non-personal brand initiatives, convention marketing and advisory board practices approved by OEC and/or that require monitoring and marketing implementation.
- Partnering with USCC Leadership and OEC to analyze key material review compliance metrics and recommend effective ways of conveying the data in a compelling way that is clear and resonates with Senior US Commercial, Legal and OEC Leadership
- With US Commercial Compliance colleagues, Marketing Operations and TA&O, responsible for developing innovative approaches to material review incident assessment, KPI development and novel methods mitigation and remediation of all errors and incidents associated with non-personal and personal promotional materials.
- With OEC, The Digital Lab, BTS and the media team investigate, report, mitigate, remediate all incidents and errors associated with distribution of non-personal promotion to HCPs and consumers through any print or digital collateral.
This person must also:
- Effectively represent US Commercial Compliance Leadership Team with OEC, Legal, Medical, Regulatory, Privacy, Quality Assurance, TA&O leadership and US Commercial and QA Senior leaders. Provide guidance on day-to-day marketing and market research compliance questions.
- Leading, coaching and developing a team to execute against the key responsibilities of the department as indicated above.
- Interact with and influence all levels of cross functional management to investigate, report, mitigate, remediate, and innovate to reduce material review and non-personal promotional errors and incidents.
- Demonstrates a passion for driving excellence, with a focus on mitigating risk and reducing errors, demonstrating accountability within self, direct reports, the US Commercial Compliance team, Performance Operations, TA&O and all cross functional stakeholders.
This role will require an on-site presence at one of the three AbbVie locations:
- Madison, NJ
- Irvine, CA
- Lake County, IL
Basic:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards affecting Pharmaceutical Products specifically:
- 8-15 years’ experience in pharmaceutical / healthcare environment with demonstrated success in marketing, compliance, legal or related functions.
- Strategic thinking & business planning skills, necessary to diagnose needs, develop, direct, and influence commercial executional excellence focused on reducing risk for the US Commercial business and AbbVie.
- Project management experience, managing cross-functional teams and/or external partners through large projects or initiatives.
Preferred:
- Experience in marketing, compliance, or market research preferred
- Knowledge of material review procedures and processes or experience in media and marketing operations
- Experience in negotiations with compliance professionals and influencing without authority within cross functional teams responsible for adhering, monitoring and executing against policies and procedures in the pharmaceutical business
