The Associate Director, Pricing is the International pricing lead for RINVOQ. The role sets and protects the brand's International price position across its indications and markets. It turns pricing analysis into clear guidance, robust business cases and accurate financial assumptions, and supports Area and affiliate teams in securing and maintaining the best achievable price and access.
Key Responsibilities:
Pricing Strategy and Guidance
- Develop and maintain International pricing guidance for RINVOQ (price corridors, floor prices and launch and re-pricing recommendations) in line with brand strategy, the Integrated Access Strategy (IAS) and corporate objectives.
- Apply the Strategic Pricing Framework to define the price potential of new indications and formulations, and recommend indication and country launch sequencing that maximizes International value.
- Develop contracting guidance and access models that address payer objections and affordability concerns while protecting net price and the reference-price position.
- Monitor International pricing policy and competitor pricing, and flag risks and opportunities for RINVOQ early.
Business Cases and Pricing Governance
- Lead the development, review and challenge of RINVOQ pricing business cases from affiliates and Areas, ensuring each is analytically sound, compliant with International pricing governance and ready for decision.
- Prepare and present business cases to the International and Global Executive Pricing Councils, with a clear recommendation, quantified financial impact, risks and mitigations.
PVTO and IRP Analysis
- Build and run price-volume trade-off (PVTO) analyses to evaluate price and access scenarios, breakeven volumes and the net revenue impact of pricing decisions at market and International level.
- Assess International Reference Pricing (IRP) implications of every proposed price change, launch price and confidential agreement. Quantify cross-country spill-over and set the sequencing and price levels that protect the overall International price position.
- Work with International Pricing analysts to design, run and interpret IRP, PVTO and launch-sequencing models, and turn the outputs into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders.
Plan and Long range Plan (LRP)
- Own the RINVOQ pricing assumptions in the annual Plan and LRP process, including price evolution, launch timing, price erosion, IRP impact and risk and opportunity scenarios.
- Collect, challenge and align pricing assumptions with Areas, affiliates and Finance, so that forecasts are consistent and explained.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Area and affiliates (primary partners): help key markets turn International pricing guidance into local outcomes, covering price potential, negotiation strategy, scenarios, fallback positions and objection handling for national and sub-national negotiations.
- Therapy Area teams: make sure the pricing position is reflected in the RINVOQ IAS and brand strategy, and that indication priorities reflect price potential.
- HTA: align price potential with the expected HTA outcome and value story, and assess the price implications of HTA evidence and comparator choices.
- Finance: reconcile pricing inputs with Plan, LRP and business case financials, and agree the net revenue impact of pricing decisions.
- Act as the internal subject matter expert on RINVOQ pricing, IRP and pricing analytics.
Essential
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Health Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Pharmacy or a related field.
- At least 3 years' experience in pharmaceutical pricing, market access, health economics or commercial finance.
- Strong quantitative and modelling skills, with experience building and interpreting pricing, forecasting or scenario models in Excel.
- Working knowledge of International Reference Pricing and its impact on launch sequencing and price setting.
- Ability to condense complex analysis into clear, concise recommendations for senior audiences. Excellent written and spoken English.
- Able to influence without authority in a matrix organization, make sound calls on incomplete data, and challenge affiliate and Area proposals constructively.
Desired
- Hands-on experience with pricing business cases for executive pricing committees, PVTO analysis and Plan/LRP pricing assumptions.
- Knowledge of P&R systems in priority markets: Germany, Canada, Japan and China, plus Australia, France, Italy, Spain and the UK.
- Understanding of HTA and health economic principles from a payer perspective.
- Experience in immunology or another multi-indication specialty brand.
