Job Description

Associate Director, International Learning – Eyecare

  • Reporting to the Director, International Learning, Specialty.
  • Based from the offices in Marlow with a 3/2 flexible working model.

Objective

The Associate Director International Learning Eyecare is a strategic partner to multiple Brand teams across our eyecare portfolio to assess and understand the learning needs of the organisation and develops appropriate learning strategies and plans with their team members. They are responsible for ensuring that the portfolio strategy for eyecare is effectively represented in all of the learning programs and solutions. They are responsible for creating consistency and leveraging best practices across the eyecare portfolio and other brands in International Learning.

Serves as an expert in curriculum development, performance excellence, capability building and change management to develop high impact, integrated learning strategies, tactics and plans which enable AbbVie to be ahead of the curve.

The Associate Director is responsible for the collaboration with International Marketing, Areas, and Affiliates to create learning programs and capability development solutions primarily for new product launches, mature products, promotional or regulatory updates, and new hire training.  They ensure the development of team members in International Learning and foster an inclusive culture.  Up to 20% international travel required.

 

Highlighted responsibilities

Relationship Building/Stakeholder Management

  • Superior negotiation tactics and experiencing working in an International multi-cultural environment.
  • Must demonstrate a high aptitude for collaboration and translate the needs of Areas/Affiliates into an international strategy.
  • Develop long range plans with brand partners including strategic planning and budget planning.
  • Act as an expert in 1-7-5 Strategic Planning Framework.
  • Align with cross functional leadership through General Manager level across TA to ensure alignment top-down including, but not limited to Training, Medical/ Clinical experts, Marketing, Sales Management, Medical, Regulatory, Legal, other AbbVie Groups and external vendor partners to ensure effective collaboration and optimal planning to meet needs.
  • Actively set mutual expectations with business customers and partners to ensure working relationships are constructive and productive.

Strategy Roll-out

  • Must be able to execute International Brand strategy through tactical training and development deliverables.
  • Demonstrates and applies knowledge of all business partners/ customers businesses, strategies, and priorities.
  • Facilitates integration of learning deliverables into business planning and the actual business plans of Brand Teams with shifting timelines and approvals.
  • Adheres to and links learning solutions to defined brand strategies across all learning deliverables.
  • Ensures that the learning content is accessible to end users through the Academy (final learning solutions) in addition to Veeva Content Central (source files).
  • Manage all curriculum content to ensure it is all up-to-date and relevant within all platforms and all stakeholders understand where to find the brand aligned learning materials.
  • Develop opportunities to “win with data” to support Therapeutic Areas (TAs) and ensure alignment across TAs. Apply the measurement strategies and always begin every learning intervention by defining the end goal and the metrics of success to measure.

Learning Leadership

  • Ensures that materials and programs incorporate adult learning principles and instructional design principles.
  • Demonstrates versatility, agility, and flexibility so that obstacles are overcome and expected results are produced.
  • Ensure the quality, compliance, and applicability of the Eyecare portfolio curriculum shared with the affiliate team learning leads.
  • Increases effectiveness of team members through formal and informal development.
  • Participate in and lead International Learning workstreams.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience

  • Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards affecting Pharmaceutical Products.
  • Bachelor's Degree required or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in Instructional Design, Education Technology, Education, or relevant job experience in related field.
  • Extensive learning, sales and marketing experience or related cross functional expertise.
  • Exceptional cross functional and peer collaboration skills.
  • Experience leading team members directly or in an interim capacity.
  • Successful track record in managing content development agencies, budgets, and executing learning programs.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills and competencies.
  • Experience in eyecare sales/learning and eyecare genetics is preferred.
  • Experience managing learning curriculums for multiple products and working with portfolio teams.
  • A seasoned learning professional is preferred.
