The Associate Director of Internal Investigations - Office of Ethics & Compliance (OEC) conducts global internal investigations relating to alleged violations of the AbbVie Code of Business Conduct (and other policies and procedures) and legal or regulatory requirements. The Investigator also contributes to training, communications, and proactive mitigation of risk by working closely with a range of stakeholders based on investigations activity worldwide.
Responsibilities:
Leads company investigations involving alleged violations of AbbVie’s Code of Business Conduct, compliance policies, and/or the law. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading investigations from intake to resolution, including:
- Reviewing facts and analyzing policy requirements and related documentation;
- Interviewing reporters, witnesses and subjects;
- Reaching conclusions and making recommendations on corrective measures to management;
- Conducting root cause analyses; and
- Making recommendations to prevent and mitigate similar instances in the future.
- Working collaboratively with Legal when the investigation is being performed at Legal’s direction.
- Ensuring that investigations are completed thoroughly, confidentially, and in a timely fashion.
- Developing extensive network of global stakeholders to ensure alignment on approach to investigations process, as well as on specific investigations.
- Aligning with multiple stakeholders, including Legal, local OEC, Commercial, BHR and EWR to influence decision making related to investigations outcomes.
- Owning specific stakeholder relationships, serving as point of contact on regional trends and training opportunities.
- Contributing to the development of training, communications and risk mitigation controls worldwide.
- Providing guidance around compliance policies and training. Serves as a resource for investigation-related questions across the enterprise.
- Bachelor's Degree required. CPA, CFE, Master's, or JD is preferred.
- 5+ years of legal or compliance experience, focused on the following areas: FCPA, Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption, pharmaceutical promotion issues, privacy, antitrust.
- Prior investigations experience strongly preferred.
- Fluency in language(s) in addition to English is preferred.
- Proven ability to communicate collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders in a manner that builds, maintains, and enhances a positive and productive working relationship.
- Curious, unbiased, empathetic, and action-oriented mindset. Thrives in teams-based, collaborative environment. Operates with utmost discretion and able to multi-task.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Regular execution of strong analytical and conceptual thinking and sound judgment.
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and direction.
- Ability to work at desk for extended period of time. Willingness to travel globally on short notice, up to 20%.
- This role is based in North Chicago, Illinois with a hybrid work schedule of at least three (3) days onsite - Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of thisposting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location,and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

Pay Range: $
141500 - 268500 USD
Where We Work
Role is primarily site- or office-based but can occasionally be performed remotely. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
