Job Description

Summary

The Associate Director, Finance, will provide strategic financial leadership and business support for the Human Resources (HR) function. This role is responsible for financial planning and analysis across planning cycles (Plan, Update, Latest Best Estimate [LBE], and Long-Range Plan [LRP]), decision support, and delivering insightful recommendations to Senior Management. The position ensures the accuracy of financial statements and supports staff development as needed.

Responsibilities

· Lead the financial planning process for HR and its sub-functions across all planning cycles (Plan, LRP, and LBE), delivering clear commentary, analysis, executive summaries, and presentations to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).

· Ensure accurate and timely completion of monthly financial results and prepare executive summaries with actionable insights for the function’s leadership team.

· Provide decision support and execute special projects through ad hoc analyses and business presentations, offering clarity on key business drivers to enable management to align tactics and strategies with LRP objectives.

· Demonstrate a high level of autonomy and self-motivation in delivering responsibilities.

· Oversee all financial aspects of key functional projects, systems initiatives, and integration activities, ensuring finance requirements are met and process efficiencies are achieved.

· Serve as a strategic partner and financial advisor to the function's leadership team on matters such as meeting/exceeding financial commitments, spend management, acquisition synergies, and other key business initiatives.

· Manage and develop a team of two direct-reports, ensuring optimal support to the business and creating opportunities for coaching and career growth to sustain a high-performing staff.


Qualifications

Qualifications

· 7-10 years of progressive accounting or finance experience.

· Proven ability and motivation to proactively identify and assess business challenges and opportunities.

· Strong leadership skills with the capability to direct teams and deliver results.

· Experienced in solving business problems through proactive identification of issues, data collection, analysis, and interpretation.

· Demonstrated experience with problem-solving and analysis within the framework of AbbVie's financial policies (CFMs) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

· Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.

· Strong understanding and experience with SAP and BPC.

· Preferred: MBA in Accounting or Finance and/or CPA/CMA certification.

· Preferred: Experience across multiple divisions and in-depth knowledge of the financial planning process.

This range may be modified in the future. ​

  • This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs. ​
