Reporting to the Director, Strategic Partnerships & Employee Networks, the Associate Director Global AbbVie Employee Networks role is responsible for developing and mobilizing the enterprise Employee Network (including ERGs and Communities) strategy, initiatives, programs, and partnerships to enable our Employee Networks to deliver best-in-class EEDI outcomes for the business while optimizing for regulatory, cultural and competitive factors. This role will lead strategic development and execution for Employee Networks including governance, metrics, and operational improvements to advance employee engagement and inclusion.
The Associate Director will also partner closely with EEDI leadership and other senior stakeholders to shape and drive employee network strategies including signature programs and enterprise events.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Global AbbVie Employee Networks enterprise strategy, ensuring best in class collaboration and communication practices to develop programming that is strategically aligned to business priorities, culturally resonant, and grounded in measurable outcomes.
- Advance the enterprise EEDI strategy with a clear roadmap and KPIs to support our long-term EEDI goals for Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and Communities.
- Drive awareness, engagement, and visibility of AbbVie Employee Networks through proactive internal communications and reporting — partnering with Network leaders to amplify brand narrative, elevate employee voice, and ensure alignment with corporate and EEDI messaging.
- Direct the strategic planning and governance of ERG and ERC operating budgets, ensuring resource allocation is aligned with enterprise EEDI priorities and drives measurable impact.
- Establish and maintain real-time ERG and ERC impact dashboard, tracking engagement, representation, business outcomes, and member sentiment — with quarterly reporting cadences to ERG Executive Sponsors and EEDI Leadership.
- Proactively benchmark against external ERG and Employee Network best practices, translating insights into actionable strategy updates and annual recommendations to leadership.
- Design best practice sharing forums for AbbVie Employee Network engagement across the business to include Functional EEDI Councils, Global Philanthropy and other partners.
- Lead planning and execution of special projects and other key EEDI events, including SynERGy, conferences, and programs.
- Build and lead an ERG Leader Development Program — spanning onboarding, training, succession, and recognition — to sustain healthy, high-performing leadership pipelines.
- Monitor the evolving external regulatory and policy environment related to employee networks and inclusion programs, partnering with Legal and Compliance to ensure Employee Networks align with AbbVie's legal obligations and risk framework.
- 10+ years of experience in diversity, equity and inclusion.
- 10+ years HR / legal / compliance experience managing sensitive data.
- Experience in driving ERG strategy, fostering community, communicating with stakeholders, and developing initiatives.
- Broad multi-stakeholder experience.
- Experience working in mid-to-large global and matrix organizations in a complex work environment
- Demonstrated commitment to contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
- Proven track record of leading and implementing large-scale programs and projects.
- High organization and detail orientation with a successful track record of executing initiatives from start to finish.
- Ability to influence people without direct authority to achieve solutions.
- Effectively use data to tell a story or create a narrative for change.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills plus interpersonal and presentation skills to drive results.
- Acts with authority in decision-making situations and takes on decision-making roles amidst uncertainty when necessary
- Harnesses the collective problem-solving powers of diverse, matrixed teams to achieve AbbVie organizational goals
- Effective leadership skills that can motivate and drive a disciplined approach that respond to business needs required.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of thisposting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location,and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. Pay Range: $
141500 - 268500 USD
Where We Work
Role is primarily site- or office-based but can occasionally be performed remotely. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
