The Associate Director of Compliance and Analytics Insights is a key member of the Compliance Operations team and is responsible for creating, measuring, and tracking key risk indicators, metrics and analytical data and information for the Office of Ethics and Compliance (OEC). The role serves as a central point of contact and leads the development, connection and delivery of Compliance and Analytics insights and relevant information across the nexus of compliance, cross-functional stakeholders, and partners.
Partnering and collaborating across a wide group of multi-functional partners and OEC teams, the Associate Director is responsible for using analytics to provide meaningful Compliance related insights that enable effective, data-driven decision making, support a holistic view of our compliance program and delivers high quality analytic insights and reporting.
The Associate Director must demonstrate the ability to work independently with a proactive approach to meet reporting and information needs across multiple fora and audiences, with the ability to effectively tailor insights and communications.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Curate, develop and provide target audience (e.g., business function, franchise, brand, geographic) specific insights and analytics to key stakeholders, including leadership, cross-functional stakeholders and OEC teams.
- Partner closely with OEC team leads and, where relevant to Compliance, other cross-functional leads and departments to understand reporting and analytical needs, serving as a problem-solving partner across the OEC by establishing strong relationships that supports understanding of their unique business and compliance-related challenges and translate those needs into actionable analytic-focused insights and reporting.
- Coach, guide and manage insights and analytics content, communications and presentations to ensure teams are focused on critical compliance questions, driving towards strategic, meaningful and synthesized insights, and suggest ideas and recommendations that enable better data decision-making through insights and reporting.
- Steward insights and data across the OEC, optimizing insights generation, reporting and communication, and challenge areas of continuous improvement or non-value add data and reportin. Provides end-to-end oversight and leadership on analytics insights and reporting delivery.
- Synthesizes and translates internal and external Compliance risks, guidelines, industry trends, etc. with data and analytical insights. Creates compelling narratives that guide compliance decisions through easily digestible, data storytelling from sophisticated and complex technical models and processes.
- Works closely with OEC and Business Technology teams to clearly articulate insights and reporting needs into technical requirements. Identifies and supports initiatives to enhance, mature and make more efficient our existing analytics insights and reporting processes.
- Design, lead and execute on strategic insights projects that deliver high-quality insights that advance the thinking of key partners and support decision making.
ADDITIONAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to synthesize and translate large sets of data, information and analytical outputs into insights and data stories, creating tailored presentations and content to effectively communicate Compliance data and information in a compelling manner that drives future action.
- Interface with personnel from all functions, Senior and Executive Management.
- Manages and oversees multiple, complex projects globally.
- Produce reports, presentation, materials, guidelines, documents and communications for internal and external stakeholders.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree required, advanced degree a plus.
Experience:
8 - 10 years Compliance or transferable pharmaceutical and life sciences industry experience. Experience with data sources, analytics tools and other Compliance-related data systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Organization, analytical, project management, leadership and team building skills, coupled with an ability to think strategically in an ambiguous environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, technical skills.
- Experience with analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI, Qlik), systems and structures that facilitate an efficient and effective compliance program.
- Data Storyteller -- Strong Interpersonal Skills, Presentation Skills and ability to develop and deliver clear messages and information. Demonstrates the ability to communicate advanced analytics concepts, insights and outputs to a variety of business partners.
- Ability to successfully influence multiple stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams across business divisions.
- Problem Solving – Ability to apply deep knowledge of compliance requirements and regulator expectations, understanding of AbbVie processes, and familiarity with the Company Code of Conduct, Corporate and Divisional Policies, and company and divisional operational goals to identify and provide solutions to reduce risk and improve business effectiveness leveraging data, analytics and insights to risk and data enabled decision making. Where necessary, exercising judgment and proposing solutions where precedent may not exist.
- Expertise – Has and maintains expertise in the top potential compliance risk areas associated with pharmaceutical, consumer and device industries (e.g., FCPA, Risk Management, Privacy, etc.).
- Complexity and Customer Management – Develops and sustains strong relationships with business leaders as a trusted business partner and advisor, with the ability to establish rapport, trust and credibility with a diverse set of stakeholders.
- Innovation and Creativity - Demonstrates use of expertise in leading compliance and ethics programs to advise senior management on improving programs and/or implementing leading practices.
- Leadership - Demonstrates ability to influence multiple stakeholders and lead cross functional teams across business divisions.
- In-depth understanding of business objectives and strategies and how those translate to OEC priorities and the bigger picture in order to advise and partner with the business.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
