Associate Director, Competitive Intelligence, AbbVie US LLC, Florham Park, NJ, Hybrid (3 fixed days in the office (T,W,TH) /up to 2 days WFH).
Key Responsibilities
- Provide objective commercial viewpoint of potential disruptive forces & pending market & competitive drivers, based on in-depth understanding & analysis of pharmaceutical industry dynamics, commercial, clinical, & scientific competitive information.
- Lead Competitive Intelligence (CI) strategy within specified therapeutic areas to ensure franchise teams have actionable intelligence by escalating business implications of competitor’s activities & disruptive market events & trends to near & long-term strategies.
- Drive & execute CI plan by leading collection of CI from secondary sources such as Biomedtracker.
- Manage external vendors, & synthesize & disseminating intelligence & associated implications.
- Coordinate, plan & execute company-wide CI activities at scientific conferences & consolidate & report back critical findings & implications.
- Act as CI expert, demonstrating awareness & understanding of appropriate CI applications & key internal & external data/information sources.
- Partner across organization to incorporate clinical, medical, access, & regulatory perspectives that inform CI viewpoint & implications.
- Ensure all CI activities are conducted in accordance with financial & ethical compliance guidelines.
- Partner with internal team to minimize overlap & optimize CI investment.
Manage competitive intelligence research within agreed upon budgets & timelines.
Education & Experience
Must possess a PhD or foreign academic equivalent in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Business Administration, Pharmaceutical Science or a highly related field of study, & 3 years of competitive intelligence related experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare industry. Alternatively, will accept a Master's Degree or foreign academic equivalent in the Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Business Administration, Pharmaceutical Science, or a highly related field of study, & 6 years of competitive intelligence related experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
With each educational alternative, must have 3 years of experience in the following: (i) collecting CI from secondary sources such as Biomedtracker; (ii) ensuring all CI activities are conducted in accordance with financial & ethical compliance guidelines; (iii) managing external vendors & synthesizing & disseminating intelligence & associated implications; & (iv) managing competitive intelligence research within agreed upon budgets & timelines. Work experience may be gained concurrently. Employer will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience.
Salary Range: $246,438 - $268,500 per year.

Where We Work
Role is primarily site- or office-based but can occasionally be performed remotely. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
