• Provide expertise to global development project teams to ensure needs of local market are met.
• Lead the implementation of diagnostic strategies for individual projects and/or therapeutic areas into the local market.
• Direct the development, outsourcing and validation of clinically applicable companion diagnostic assays for first-in-human and registrational studies in the local market.
• Applies imagination and innovation by creating, inventing, and implementing new or better approaches, alternatives and breakthrough ideas to adapt diagnostic testing to the local market.
• Lead interactions between AbbVie and local affiliates of diagnostic partners to ensure successful diagnostic development and ensure that co-development timelines are met
• Lead interactions with local health authorities regarding companion diagnostics development and submissions
• Identifies local diagnostic trends from multiple internal and external sources and assess relevance to Abbvie. Integrates local trends into global objectives insofar as possible.
• Contribute to global develop project teams through state-of-the art thinking on appropriate diagnostic technologies, evaluating their scientific basis and clinical applicability, and the validation status and any technical or statistical issues related to the proposed companion diagnostic assay
• Serve as subject matter expert in state-of-the-art biomarker testing technologies (immunohistochemistry, FISH, NGS, PCR, flow cytometry, etc)
• Highly experienced biomedical professional: doctoral level (PhD, MD, etc) with a minimum of 5-7 years of post-doctoral and/or relevant industry experience; master’s degree or PharmD with 14 years of related work; or bachelor’s degree in science or related field with 16 years of related work.
• Experience and knowledge in the technical, regulatory, medical and/or commercial aspects companion diagnostic development.
• Expertise in oncology/immunology/neuroscience biomarker is highly preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills in English
• Interacts well with diverse groups within function and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators.
• Excellent leadership skills including motivation and influencing without authority
• High level of initiative and ability to work independently
• High level of business awareness
